The guy is so boring to watch on the mound. He literally sucks every bit of energy out of the game, which is in no way a bad thing for us. I actually think that's a huge contributing factor to his success this year, as well as his ability to change speeds and locate pitches. He also never seemed to get rattled on the mound. I trust sending the guy in almost every situation because of the mentality he brings to the table.

But according to will james, he sucks.
10 wins out of the bullpen is almost unheard of. It speaks more to the fact that starting pitching has not been what we hoped. or moreso the fact that the bats failing to put starters in position to exit the game with a lead. I would take a pen full of Ross Mitchells. Great competitor.

Not that I want to defend Will James but, that's not really what he argued. Maybe you need to read the threads again.
Will James is an absolute idiot. He has made it clear that he doesn't know jack crap about the game of baseball. You can't take his approach to every aspect of the game. Some of it just has to happen from talent. Ross has talent. He just goes out there, and gets out. Why does he suck? Because he can't throw 90mph? Because he isn't as big as Holder? He gets the job done. Like it or not, he has helped this team be what they are. Will James can go hide under a rock.
Will didn't say he sucked. He simply said that Ross is better for starting innings, than he is to bring in with men on base and in scoring position, because Ross pitches to contact instead of being a strikeout pitcher.
I agree that Will has a douchey way of coming across a lot of the time (I argued with him for years), but if you ignore his arrogance and just read what he's getting at, he is actually a pretty good baseball mind. I hate defending people, especially those that don't need it, but if you're going to rip on someone at least do it against what he's really saying and not put words in his mouth.
He actually proved his point with stats on elitedawgs, maybe he can post those numbers in this thread.
I think he just does a terrible job of explaining his point and people get lost in stats and arrogance and just result to saying "Will's a douche". I get it. But he is right on this, and I agree with him completely. As twilight zone-ish as it feels to say that.
Will said Ross was not good, he's lucky. WTF? He also said Ross would be like his 7th option out of the bullpen if he was coach. He analyzes **** like we are arguing MLB potential. This is college baseball. And to get too caught up in stats/pitching style is stupid. The game is different. The aluminum bats have been dumbed down. I'll take a crafty lefty that can locate over a 96mph fastballer. It's just like the folks early in the year talking about Holder doesn't have a dominating fastball for a closer. who gives a ****, he's got a bender that freezes guys in their cleats...the curve is his out pitch..not the heater.

He went on a 20 hour twitter rant about Ross and claimed Ross was far too "lucky" because of his high BABIP... and Ross obviously found out about it. He may have a decent point perhaps on him giving up inherited runs (although I don't agree at all with using a Holder or Bracewell for half an inning just to set up Ross... or hold onto a struggling starter... Ross has shown he CAN get out of jams)... but I have zero respect for him. He doesn't "discuss" anything, nor does he want to... he tells people how to think and if you don't think the way he thinks you should, you get attacked. He wants to be right and he wants to be the next C34... plain and simple.

I didn't see the twitter stuff so I can't comment on that. If he said Ross "wasn't good" then he deserves all of the **** everyone is talking.

Those 10 wins go along with the lowest ERA in the SEC as well as the 2nd most innings pitched on this team.
BUT....
Wins and ERA are a bull **** meme that only the unthinking simpletons use, so they probably don't matter.
Originally I thought Will James was trying to egg things on on this board. I didn't think he really believed what he thought. I thought he just typed those things up to stir things up.
