Hey guys,

Sorry if this has already been covered but has your coach released a pitching rotation for the regionals yet? Hope to see a good showing of state fans this weekend and looking forward to a great weekend of baseball.

Ok... realistically, it looks like Stratton, Gravemen, bullpen by committee.... just like we've done it for almost the entire SEC season.

The only change would be Stratton bumped by Gravemen or Woodruff, but the odds of that happening would be really low, in my opinoin.

Thanks Guys for the quick response. How good of a pitcher do you consider Graveman when not battling the groin injury?

he can be very good. See games @Florida and @LSU where he pitched outstanding. LSU was a 1 run complete game for Graveman and Florida was a 3 hit 7.2 inning performance. He also threw a complete game against Tennessee during Super Bulldog Weekend (was a 3 hit 1 run performance in that one). The past couple of outings his injury was affecting him and he was not able to get much sink on the ball....both games were against Kentucky (final weekend series and then he faced them again in the SEC tournament). Per the pitching staff and the Cohen his bullpen session Tuesday was outstanding and he seems ready to go. Has only thrown I think maybe 6 combined (ingame) innings the past two weeks so he should well rested.

..is a ground ball pitcher. That's his strength as a pitcher (which is a big reason MSU leads the nation in double plays).

If he begins allowing cans of corn, or softly hit bluppers that go for singles, he'll get pulled pretty quickly.

Ironically, the only team we played this year Graveman couldn't get to hit ground balls was Kentucky.

I say ironic because including the SECT, MSU went 4-1 against UK.

Why would they give Woodruff the nod over Gravemen? Who do you consider better?

He's had a slight groin or hamstring strain that's given him some trouble in his last couple of starts. Woodruff 's a true freshman who didn't pitch much until late in the season but has really looked good in his last 3 starts. Honestly, there's not a whole lot of difference 1 through 12 on this pitching staff. I know that sounds crazy, but it's true.

woodruff has some really great outing recently...

it basically depends on matchups
we could go
woodruff
graveman
pollo
evan mitchell
and all would give about the same great 5-6 innings

he was a 5th round draft pick last season out of HS- he just lacks experience. But after throwing 9 scoreless innings in the SEC Tourney- he will start Game 2 or Game 3- we just dont know which yet. Coaches may go with Graveman because of experience- but Woodruff has better stuff.
