I know Rucci didn’t have the results everyone expected as a 5 star recruit. However, he’s spent 3 seasons in a major college football weight room, film room, and practice field. I saw a few snaps he played in their bowl game after the starter got hurt and he looked pretty good. I think he may be the OT in the portal that would be the best fit and I think he might be ready for a much bigger role wherever he lands. I’d feel a lot better about him coming to PSU than the kid that briefly committed and then ended up at MD.

A walk on? A bit dramatic.
Not trying to be dramatic. He rarely saw any snaps at Wisconsin (a team that struggled offensively) and has what 2 seasons of eligibility left? He was a 5 star yes, but OL is the hardest to project out of HS. He isn't a bust yet, but if he isn't starting by next season (which he obviously didn't think would happen at Wisconsin) then he is likely viewed as a bust. Either way, he's not a 5 star in college. Some kids mature early and those rated below them pass them up at this level.

So, unless they are 5 stars, you only offer walk on status? Glad you aren’t the coach. Yes, you are being dramatic. If they offered the kid from Shorter (wherever that is?), then they will almost certainly offer Rucci.

Many on the Wisconsin boards thought he should have been starting over the starter and they should have moved the starter to G. One poster said he was “primed to be a starter somewhere else”. I’ll trust Franklin and Co to make that call. Regardless, offering walk on status would be insulting.

Don't get me wrong. Now that I see he is on board, I will pull hard for the kid. I just think if he hasn't been able to get on the field at Wisconsin then he wasn't worth a scholarship here. We are limited in our scholarships and need to cut the fat to get to 85. I'd like to bring in someone who has some proven success. Ohio St brought in a starting OL at Alabama. We are bringing in a career backup at Wisconsin. We are losing ground.

Ohio State has more issues than PSU right now. They’ve lost all confidence in their coach and had nearly 20 kids transfer out including the starting QB who left before the season even ended. Not a good look.

Starter or not, one would think that an OL with a modicum of ability would see action in more than six games.

I don’t disagree. But offering walk on status is ridiculous. Some people are just overly dramatic. It’s like the Howard Stern effect. Say things for shock value.

I’d never want my own children to be held accountable for my behavior, that said, Rucci dad (Todd) was a Tom Corbett lacky, appointee to the corrupt PSU BOT. I don’t like welcoming the Rucci family back to PSU, and my impression is that the Sr Rucci isn’t exactly a welcome member of PSU lettermen

You mean the center from Alabama who was being called 'the worst center in college football' just four days ago?
Well, he may be an OG at Ohio St as Matt Jones just declared for the draft. I can't stand Ohio St, my least favorite team, but grabbing a starting OL on Alabama is clearly better than a career backup at a weaker than usual Wisconsin who only saw action in 6 games. I hope like he!! I'm wrong.

Ahh. There it is. The real reason why some of you have an issue with this. I should have known. It isn’t about the kid. It’s about your hurt feelings.

Why do you think Alabama didn’t make an offer the kid couldn’t refuse to stay??

I don't know. Even if Alabama ran him off like Ohio St did with their QB, he's still more of a sure thing as a former starter on a playoff team than a backup who barely saw any action at an unranked team that struggled on offense this year. I'm done discussing it. I hope Rucci proves me wrong at PSU. You do realize that I had posted that he wasn't worth a scholarship IMO before the commitment was announced? Had I known he would be a lion, I wouldn't have posted anything.

Nothing about feelings, actions of the corrupt PSU BOT are well documented…
What did Todd Rucci have to do with it? Please explain. More importantly, what does the younger Rucci have to do with it?

The goal is to maximize your roster, not make arbitrary comparisons to others teams' units/transfers. You don't "lose ground" by improving your OL room, and Rucci does that. Playing time aside, he is a good player with some valuable college experience and a high ceiling.

"Valuable college experience" = 70 snaps in three years.
As for "maximizing your (sic) roster" Rucci is taking away a scholarship from someone already at PSU, and potentially a 2025 prospect.

Don't take this the wrong way but you're a jackazz... I've know Todd for 20+ years and your comments are not only dead wrong but show an incredible lack of character.

The only reason you have an issue with it is because of his last name. It’s clearly personal with you.

Three years physical development, weight room, playing behind NFL talent, learning technique from college staff. You don't think that's valuable?

The OL room is young in 2024, they're bringing in a guy with some experience, who will be a RS Junior and very likely on the two-deep come fall. That's a (very) worthwhile scholarship.

All of which translates into seventy snaps in three years. OL get banged up, they rotate, Wisconsin plays tomato cans, there is garbage time. Seventy snaps.

Yeah backup linemen don't always get a lot of snaps. This kid has two years left. You think he's not a good player, or won't be, because of 70 snaps in his career so far? He played a lot in their bowl game, looks a little skinny but has good knee bend and moves well. And he's 6'8".

Did you actually watch his tape and think he can't play? Honest question.

I'm not going to repeat myself. The evaluation of his coaches at Wisconsin speaks for itself.
