With the wind blowing as hard as it was, the traditional punts would have gone nowhere. Swedenburg doesn't exactly have a killer leg, so you have to keep it out of the wind. He actually punted pretty good too on Saturday.

Instead of kicking it out of bounds, he line-drived it straight to the returner. The punt returner had 10 yards to work with before any type of coverage arrived. That was stupid. If you are going to do the rugby style kick, kick it away from the returner.

and not only that, but it's not like we were kicking from our own 20. I believe we were close to midfield all three times than I'm thinking about so I don't really know why kicking a high kick into the wind would have been a bad thing even if the wind was against us.

Bottom line, I have no issue with the rugby punt if you have someone that can do it effectively. Punting three times in the 1st qtr for a net average of 28 yards per kick and a fumbled snap is not effective.

Maybe we need a whole student organization for operation: punt food. Steal all of Sidney's food and replace it with Celery.
