"Rules Expert" stated Beau should have been whistled down on his TD Pass

The only reason this has even a little traction is because it caused PSU to cover the spread. So, it's basically the gamblers complaining about a no call that prevented them getting paid. If this occurred to get PSU up three scores but not to cover, it wouldn't even be commented on because it was clearly a fake run.
NW bettors should not complain. If part of your handicap doesn't involve Franklin's penchant for covering spreads then they need to do better homework. Everyone knows it. Bet against PSU at your own risk.

Just looked at Prebula's first drive vs Iowa and noticed that he does this when he is about to run on a few play (see below). He firmly plants his back foot and flexes his front knee. This was the most noticeable of the drive. I get why people think he was taking a knee in NW, but I personally like the "awkward fake" scenario best.

The most confusing part of the play for me was the desire to call it at that point in a game that’s already out of hand. Why not save that for a point in the season when you might actually need it? To put it on tape and get an extra two or three yards periodically?

It wouldn’t have mattered anyway - no one bit on it and it was and easy TD.

Yes, nobody lunges that far forward on a kneel down.

And yes, it was worth the 10 minutes trying to find a video of Trace doing it, since it meant I got to watch the end of some fun wins over the past few years...and wow, can't believe how many games ended in us being up pretty big, and Franklin trying to punch in another score with no knee at the end, lol.

I believe my fear of personal bias has actually cost me money by not betting on my own team. It's been at least 10 straight covers. When does the market catch up?

It’s a tough one because based on our performance last Saturday, we dropped in most power ratings. However, need to almost adjust for Franklin’s desire to punch in an extra one at the end for games with an applicable spread.

I look to take advantage in spots here and there, but apparently not often enough. But my biggest night of my life was taking advantage of it in that night game blowout At Maryland a few years ago (was likely over-exposed, but knew he’d do whatever possible to pour it on).

Relax dude. Just people debating an interesting play. It's what people do on message boards. You can think that he was faking a knee and still love PSU football.

Love PSU football. Interesting take.

I believe that is not correct. I though the rule was about faking a slide not the "Tom Brady fake knee"

Any time a ball carrier simulates or fakes a feet-first slide, the ball should be declared dead by the on-field officials at that point.” The judgment of whether a ball carrier slid is not subject to review, but instant replay officials can intervene on ball placement.Sep 2, 2022
it isn't correct, play was legal-he's faking the qb keep not giving himself up-shame on a former official for getting that wrong. When Tommy Stevens was here he would do that at east once a game that he got in-many others also during the spread era.

For sure. I would want a 4+ pt overlay to bet against PSU at this point (not including OSU and UM).

I had one of those nights in Vegas with Stanford vs Utah in 2021. Just non stop live betting as Utah ran through gaping holes in the Stanford line on almost every drive. Ah, the memories.

I count the absolute didn’t-make-a-diff-ness of it as another point supporting it NOT having been an attempt at a fake kneeldown.

The funny or well maybe not so funny thing is we are arguing amongst ourselves. Northwestern doesn't seem to care. 🤷‍♂️
Because if you have no fans watching on TV, then no one is there to hear the rules analyst. If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there…

As the color commentator said, he was not faking a knee. He was faking, getting low like he was running the QB power play.
When I first saw the clip I thought he was faking a knee, but then when I saw there were over 2 minutes left and was 1st down I realized it was a fake run.
