Southern California has offered their HC position to Texas A&M's, Kevin Sumlin.

Also, factions of UF have reached out to a certain former assistant (we ain't that lucky). Petrino/Auburn situation might be developing.

I'm going to be up all night trying to figure

out what 4 asterisks means**

So who does aTm and Louisville go after?

Does Petrino go back to Louisville?

Unfortunately I would expect Mark Hudspeth to be high on TAM's radar. Dunno on Louisville, they'd have to fire Muschamp first at UF. Chad Morris maybe? The DC at FSU (former Saban assistant) is a fast rising name too, but I don't see either of those schools hiring a defensive coach.

Sumlin would be an unadulterated ******* level fool of the highest order if he turns down USCe. The defenses fielded under his watch suck ***. He needs to get out of the SEC as fast as he can. He can survive a while in the pac 12.

Sumlin is gonna parlay Manziel into some major cash. Sumlin is a great offensive mind, but I don't think he'll ever win a title. USC and aTm can do better than sumlin IMO

I thought that was USCw? Who knows, AM is breaking ground on a "new" stadium in a few months. I have a feeling if he leaves it won't be because A&M could afford him. Lets to not lose sight of the ole renegotiate/leverage move here.

Might come down to how Sumlin feels about living in LA.

I would be careful taking much the good Rabbi says at face value.

In 2003 some of Auburn's boosters flew up to meet with then Louisville HC, Bobby Petrino to judge his interest in Auburn's position IF Tubberville were to be fired. Well, everyone found out about it, and it went to hell. Sounds like similar things are going down between UF boosters and Charlie Strong.

Sumlin is one player away from being a very average SEC team. Great offensive

guy. Ummmm that's all.

Hud is not on A&M's radar....I don't see that. HUD is a good coach but if TAM needs a coach, there sites would be much higher than HUD I assure you.

I agree. There's no way aTm calls up hud before trying to rob Baylor of their coach that's got them at 8-0. I think kliff kingsbury will be called before hud also

So none of y'all think anyone will make a play for Franklin? I'm surprised. I would think he's shown he can coach considering what he has to work with.

Not a rumor....he was asked last week about USC, and said

he had not talked to them or heard from them. Now, his agent might be a different story...

Have you seen Texas A&M's recruiting?

guy. Ummmm that's all.

They have a higher average star ranking than Alabama right now - highest in the SEC. Texas A&M is going to be loaded for years and they will get the defense improved with talent and coaching.

The SEC doesn't poach itself under Slive... It's talked about ad nauseam every year and never happens. I don't think it's any kind of written rule preventing it -- but he definitely strongly discourages it.

Sumlin isn't leaving aTm for another college job IMO. Even for USC. He's got the trendiest team in college football -- a $450 million new stadium on the way -- some of the most fertile recruiting ground in the country -- and UT on the rocks. A national championship can be won at aTm -- and SHOULD be won there. What more can a coach want?

The same goes for Malzahn. For the question: an easier path

He only wins with his offense if he has a NFL caliber QB. Four seasons at Houston, three winning records and one losing. The three winning he had Keenan and the losing which was his third season he did not due to injury. With out Maziel last year they are at best a 6 to 7 win team and this season with out him he might win 5. I am not sold on the guy and doubt I will ever be.

In some ways, Hud is the early 2010's version of the early 1990's Bobby Wallace. In Sherrill's early years, he was the guy many had identified that was a better coach than Sherrill if we could just get rid of Sherrill and get him in. Those people were territifed that he'd get every job that opened up. He ultimately got hired by Temple.

I actually think Hud will get more and better interest than Wallace did, but I'm just not sure that it will be from the likes of A&M, at least not yet. For Sumlin to get that job, it was almost like lightning struck. It usually doesn't strike twice, especially since A&M's current status has increased.
