So a mid-60s guy who hasn't coached on the college level for years and whose asst coaching background is offense is hired to coach D at an SEC school? Right.
While I want to laugh and make fun of this "rumor," I'm afraid to... :grimace:
I think it's safe to say, that this is definitely not true. However, if it was true, could this really shock anyone? This is UK football afterall.

Caller just said it was the rumor going around and wanted Oscar to comment on if he thought it would happen and how it would turn out for UK. At first I thought it was a joke but the caller seemed serious about it.

Not me. I think most of his success was with Leach as Offensive Coordinator. We didn't look nearly as good after Leach left. Leach was successful in helping turn around Oklahoma in 1 year there and did a very good job at Texas Tech with lesser recruiting classes than we currently are getting. He is also turning around Washington State. What happened when Mumme left Kentucky? I don't believe he has been successful anywhere else he has been.

I wouldn't hire Fulmer as the OC. The question should have been "If you had an option, Fulmer or Schlarman?" The answer is...DUH!!
