I hear a rumor that our offense looked a good bit better in today's scrimmage than it did last week. I also heard that Brauchle made 52 and 57 yard field goals. Is it legal to kick it from there? I just assumed the rule book said you must punt from the 30 yard line or further out.

Back then the NFL goal posts were at the goal line, so he was kicking the ball from his own 37-yard line. Alex Karras was playing for the Lions then and he said the Lions were all laughing their asses off and yelling at him that he was kicking at the wrong goal post from there. Then he made the kick.
