That Les Koenning is interested in the Sam Houston State HC vacancy. Can anybody substantiate this??

When do I need to leave for Texas...

and who do I need to talk to at Sam Houston State to make this come to be?

I don't get this ^^^^^^^

Les coaches our QBs. Were you not happy with our QB play last year?

3 people went with Dak after his mom passed. Dan Mullen, Tyler Russell and Les Koenning. That tells me all I need about Les. I hope we don't lose him.

DS, I thought you weren't letting new folks sign up on Sixpack until after Signing Day. If Koenning leaves, it'll ruin the momentum of our football program and bring down the program worse than when I was making negative posts in 2001 and was called out by some guy wearing a maroon Zorro suit.

Damien was there too.

Les is a great guy and our current players like him, but he brings little to nothing to the table. Mullen calls the plays and coaches QB's. Les played football during the time of dinosaurs and has zero experience with coaching dual threats (look at his resume). I have nothing against him, I just think he's doing absolutely nothing but filling a position we could use for something else... so if he can get a HC job near his home... I wish him all the luck in the world.

The real question is which recruit is Ole miss after that Les Koenning is recruiting for us?

Nothing against Les. He's done what he's asked to do. But if him leaving means that Mullen hires a good OC and hands the reigns over to him, then I see that as a good thing.

We could have Chip Kelley as OC, and Mullen would still have 100% control over all things related to Mississippi state offense.

Les came up....

when damn near every team in the country ran some form of option. He's coached for over 30 years. He's seen just about every offense there is. He's one of our better recruiters. When our offense is clicking, it's usually because Mullen is following Les' gameplan and is listening to his suggestions.

Back in '09, it was Les that noticed UM's ends couldn't play the read. It was his idea to go with Relf. He even told his good friend Nix before the game what was getting ready to happen.

Les brings plenty to the table. If he leaves, so be it. If Mullen decides it's time for a change, that's his right.

If you mean bait to turn off recruits Les is after, the truth will come out before signing day anyway so that won't matter. That said, isn't it amazing the number of "rumors" that get posted by 1st time posters/long time lurkers?

I turned it back on in mid December but didn't announce it. If it gets bad, I will turn off registration again. The trolling isn't as bad when we win the Egg Bowl.

Precisely.

And the original poster did zero to mask it.

Not even close... I could care less about your recruits. Just curious about a rumor. Wouldn't mind having LK as our new head coach even though the SHSU fan favorite it Kendal Briles....

If you're a SHSU fan and asking our opinion, I have no idea how he'd be as a coach. He was basically at the end of the college coaching road before Mullen called him, and I think he's learned a lot being on a successful staff... I could see him being a good HC, but I honestly don't know. He splits his responsibilities with Mullen. Nothing to really gauge him on, but our players love him which can't be a bad thing.

Les isn't going anywhere and he is a damn good football coach, good recruitor who works his butt off and an even better person. He is tight right now with 4 really good recruits for 2015 we probably will get and it would be a bad situation if he went anywhere.
