Talked to someone who was in one of the skyboxes with some of the big wigs (money people). Said Croom will be here one more year and then Patterson would be our new coach. Said Byrne was in frequent contact with Patterson (not about the coaching position but more as an acquaintance).

Personally, I doubt Patterson would wait around for MSU but this is what I heard. Hey, rich people gossip also.

Peterson.

Although I did ask if it was Patterson or Peterson and he said the guy that is in Idaho. He didn't know it was Boise State. This guy was only repeating things he had heard and how well he heard is questionable.

A couple of *** poundings of USM back in Bower's better days impressed me. He's an intense SOB and he's won consistently since taking over for Franchione in 2001.

If there is some sort of wink-wink deal with a potential new coach, whether it be Peterson, Patterson or Pippy Longstocking, why not just bring them in at the end of this year? Why do we have to wait through another year of craptastic football?

So, let's see, out of the goodness of our Mississippi State hearts we keep Sly around, according to rumor he's a lame duck, according to rumor Peterson is ready and willing to listen, so we tank a year for the hell of it?

That's why you have to fire him now. Because you'll either be firing him this December or next December so what's the difference? The numbers back up firing him tomorrow.

which is why I'm calling ******** on this rumor. At most it could be that Crxxm gets another year and then we'd like Peterson to come here. But there's no way in hell a coach like that would wait a year for MSU. But it's so unrealistic to think we could just wait a year for a coach like that that I'm calling ********.

Croom actually has a decent recruiting class right now, we need a new coach to come in and hang on to those recruits. The new coach then has a year to work on recruiting and can hopefully sell his exciting new offense to recruits much like Fedora did getting some good offensive players. If we wait then most of the people who we would have a chance at next year are going to have us not even on the radar after this season without some change. So we can either try to hang on to the recruits we have now with Sly, maybe just losing a couple of the big time players and battle Midd Tenn State next year for all our recruits while Nutt talks about their bowl game or we change coaches now and lose maybe a few more recruits because they like Croom but then have a better recruiting class next year.

Peterson is a scientologist. I'll pass.

What in the hell does religion have to do with coaching football?

I don't care if he stole the Jesus fish off the back of you car, what does his religion have to do with football. BTW, Sherril was a devote christian with a track record of always asking, "what would Jesus do?"

how can people become Christians if they aren't witnessed to? Scientology is popular in the West (popular as in not unheard of). Who's to say that he wouldn't come to MSU and end up becoming a deacon at First Baptist of Starkville?

you know his religion would not fly in Mississippi and as 8dog has said before, it might hurt us in recruiting in the South.

He'll stay out west.

I think Gary Patterson would be a good hire for you and is someone you could probably land. </p>

This makes me laugh. When this rumor first hit the board a couple of weeks ago I asked if this was actually confirmed and the only response I got was "a quick google search of Chris Peterson and Scientology pretty much confirms it."

True, but I bet the fact that y'all are looking at 4 out of 5 losing seasons, have no quarterback, and Croom can't adapt to changes hurts even more.

It means he is part of a cult of wackos who try to take over every damn place they go and we don't need there ******** here. How's that!

Now, if he and his alien friends came here and won. I am sure I and everyone else would overlook it. :)
