I'm hearing Stringer is gone. Has a job in title only. Kinda makes sense. His title is Director of Recruiting Operations. Hughes is the Recruiting Coordinator, so it seems kinda redundant. I understand that Reed is under a 2 yr contract, so he can hang around, get paid, and not have to do much.

Anybody else hearing anything about it?

That's kind of crazy in a way. If we're going to fire a guy, why not go ahead and bite the bullet and can him?

I was a little skeptical too. But I bet Grimes and Campbell have some kind of title after being "Reassigned" in the Ath. Dept.

Like I said, it's rumor. But I think Reed is liked and he loves State , so they maybe saving him a little face.

See Rockey Felker- who kind of reminds me of Darth Sidious in that he appears to the public to have good intentions, but in reality is evil and is synonymous with losing football at MSU- has been around for EVERY MSU coach except for Emory Bellard as a player or coach in some form or fashion since the Charley Shira era.

a star wars reference that just totally destroys the credibility of the rest of your post.

yeah, i don't know what the responsibilities of the recruiting coordinator are as compared to "director of recruiting operations" but i do know that stringer was most interested in heading up recruiting

that Rockey Felker was an AC/DC fan. Tech and 10 certainly could have used Highway to Hell as a theme song for the year.

I was a Stringer basher - watch all these recruit videos and see who is doing the talking. This might just be an ideal position for him long term.

Jody Wright is Director of Football Operations. Stringer's title is Director of Recruiting Operations.

Reed Stringer should be driven to the Mexico border and dropped off in a sack. I have seriously never seen a clusterf$%@ as bad as our special teams have been..................not counting MCCorvey's offense.

...he has been assigned to the in house recruiting team. This is a concept Mullen said he was going to implement and he has. Reed Stringer did an okay job with the TE's, but he was assigned Special Teams when he had zero experience there. He was a key recruiter. He personally recruited about 9-10 of our signees. His new job will take advantage of his skills as a recruiter. Scott Sallach has replaced him as the TE coach. Sallach has extensive experience coaching both receivers and QB's in the Ivy League. He was also a teammate of Mullen's at Ursinus College.

of a remnant of the "good ole boy" system still being retained. He must have a black book with names and locations of all the dead bodies.

Is Mullen/GB/Rock is SO concerned about keeping RS in house, that they're willing to pay him to sit around. Should they release him and he find his way to UF or UAT, who knows what Special Teams coaching secrets he could give them to liven up their floundering special teams.

I agree w/the Big 3, we gotta keep Reed

I know that he won't be on the field. What I'm hearing is that he has a title now that does not include any responsibilities.

I'm hearing that he was told, "We are gonna call you Director of Recruiting Operations, but you will not be involved. We will finish paying your contract, but you will have no actual responsibilities."

I'm trying to find out if this is true, or just rumor. Again, anybody know anything about this?

...Mullen introduced Reed at the recruiting day party in Starkville as the Coordinator of Recruiting Operations. There are a couple of other holdovers from Croom's staff who are being paid as "other reassigned" duties, but were not there and not introduced. That includes J.B. Grimes and Pat Washington. Greg is honoring their contracts, paying them, but not involving them with the program. Reed also speaks at post signing day parties.

was Stringer suppose to do with a punter who can't punt and a field kicker who can't kick.

I couldn't care less whether Stringer goes or stays but the special teams disaster was Crooms fault from get to go.
