I heard that Masoli, QB, Oregon is considering transferring and we are one of the schools he is considering transferring to. We aren't the favorite but in the conversation. He would be able to play this year. I don't have any idea if any of this is true.Take it for what it is worth.

Forget all the talk about transferring and us being in the picture. How in Sam Hill would he be eligible to play this year? In addition to that pesky transfer rule, he's also a two time loser at Oregon. Not exactly the kind of case the NCAA is going to be sympathetic too.

He joins the yearly list of b.s. rumored troubled/hidden in depth chart qb's looking to resurrect their careers while making State a winner. Barnes, Perilloux, Sanchez, Mustain, etc etc.

I hate to get stuff started for no reason, but I have heard twice today from fans of other schools that he was supposed to visit campus Saturday after visiting LA Tech Friday. They said they heard he was deciding between those two schools. I have no clue whatsoever if this is true. I just wanted to see if anyone else had heard anything. It's an interesting situation because he would be perfect for our offense but at the same time would delay the develpment of Relf and Russell. We would instantly be a better team with himbehind center but this guy seems like an absolute thug. Doesn't learn his lesson. He is a gamer though. He can take over. Wouldn't know what to think if he came to the team.

Louisiana Techcoaches are pretty sure they are getting him. That would be really huge for them. The only school they are worried about is us.I am hearing Tech is the favorite but we have an outside chance. If you don't think this guy could help us this year, you are kidding yourself. I am also hearing that what he got in trouble for was reallynot that big of a deal.I just threw that last part in there to start the spin.My appologies for adding to a thread that is nottalking aboutPhil Turner.

Answer: He doesn't. Masoli isn't playing for a D1 school next year.

Where do these rumors come from???

Doesn't matter that Oregon booted his *** to the curb (and for good reason). He's still a transfer. If he wants to play this fall, it will be in Div. I-AA or Div. II. Same as Phil Turner. If he wants to play this winter, it'll be in Div. II.

Ifhe hasalready graduated, which he has, andhe finds a school with a degree that Oregon does not offer, he can play this year. A few years ago, the Georgia Tech QB transferred to La. Tech and didn't have to sit out a year. He had already graduated and he transferred to Tech without sitting out. It is possible. I don't think he is coming but have heard he is considering us.

Although, technically it's two loopholes you're referring to. One was that a player who had graduated could transfer without sitting out a year. I know that one was closed. The other was that if a school dropped a major, a player who was in that major could transfer without sitting out a year. I would guess that one is still open. However, it would only apply if Oregon had dropped Masoli's major.

I think it is for a graduate program that Oregon doesn't have. Not an undergrad degree. If he graduated and we have a post graduate degree that Oregon does not have, he can play this year.</p>

so I would assume he didn't have to sit out.

I do think that if you are booted from a team though, you still have to sit.
