Board of Alderman asked for a specific time and date for hearing and were not notified that Tax comm was meeting.
Roy Perkins wrote a letter full of lies to them asking to decline
They were citing "student behavior' as a reason
They were concerned that it wasn't a 7-0 vote (was 4-3)

Wiseman..et al worked the phones and are going to Jackson to defend the vote.

The board that rules is a three person board.

They will convene in two weeks to make a final decision.

He is the dumbest, most ignorant <17>er on the board of alderman. Basically, an asshat who his there to push his warped personal agenda.

appointed? Seems odd to me that a three person commission can over rule the elected officials of a city. Something very wrong when asshats can undo a representative democracy that easily.

in nature. Local rule is permitted but can be taken away. Examples include when the state takes over a local school system.

So, they can deny S'ville Sunday sales if they like. It sucks.

I'm just glad we're to this point. Wasn't long ago this issue wouldn't have made it this far.

Have you not been reading the board the past two days? Did you not read the first post of this thread? If this is a joke forgive me.

From the Columbus Dispatch.

This article and the ensuing smugly condescending, judgmental, theologically ill-informed comments are basically a Cliff's Notes version of "things I don't miss about northeast Mississippi"
