That is so awesome. Should be a great show.

I was watching this to see if they addressed the elephant in the room about replacing Neil. Shocked to find out it's a female, but I trust these two that she must be incredible.

Wow! It'll be interesting to see how this turns out. Geddy's voice was struggling the last few years they toured before. But they're spacing out their shows a lot, only about a dozen shows over two months, so hopefully it'll hold up. Will be strange to see no Neil, but I'm sure the drummer they added will be excellent. Can't see these guys touring with an average drummer.

Okay nerds: How many times have you seen Rush?
I saw them on the Presto tour, Roll the Bones, Counterparts, and Time Machine. Last time I saw them, it was clear that they were having a good time, but they had lost a step.

Twice. In Jackson on the Hold Your Fire tour (1/18/88), and in New Orleans on the Time Machine tour (6/10/11). And yeah, Geddy's voice was starting to sound a little rough by the Time Machine tour. Hopefully with so much time between shows he'll sound ok.

I'm gonna be THAT guy. And I will catch hell for it.

But it ain't RUSH without Neil Peart.

Not that the young lady won't do an acceptable job at it.

But I said what I said.

  8. Coming in 2026...
2008 was when I first noticed Geddy's voice start to regress. For what he sings, he held on a long time. 2004 Alex looked like he ate really well. Neil was always a monster.

I would have killed to have seen them in 1981-84, especially the SIgnals tour.

It will be Rush Mark III, where Marks I and III are not even in the same stratosphere as the long reigning Mark II. No replacing Neil is possible, and no attempt is being made. Everyone on the planet knows it. But they will be having fun playing their music, while giving Neil due tribute during an odd time measured group therapy session (along with many tears of revisited lament as well as joy). I'm tickled pink they will be bringing those in attendance along for the (ghost) ride.

I get it. At least they waited until he had been gone a while and didn't try to replace him as soon as he got sick like some other bands. Everyone, especially Geddy and Alex know there is no replacing Neil Peart.

Rush was my first show to ever see. April 15, 1981 Moving Pictures tour in Jackson. Not too impressed with the girl YouTube drummer they hired, but I imagine she'll work for free or per diem, and she'll be serviceable. Neil was Rush. I'll go see them if they come anywhere within 10 hours drive.

edit to add: looks like Fort Worth is closest show to MS. Chicago or New York MSG is next closest

It was Rush before Peart and it will be a different Rush next year. They called him the new guy until the end. Of course we’d rather have Peart. But this best they can do. It’s better than no Rush. And it might be really good.

They just recently said that RUSH was done. No way they were going to go on without rock's best drummer ever. And he was their main song writer. In fact, I asked AI copilot yesterday if Rush would replace Peart. It also said and confirmed it would not happen.

Needless to say, I am stoked. Wonder what tickets will go for? I'm prepared to mortgage something.

I think I’ll try to get a ticket to one of the Ft Worth shows. I’m sure they’ll sell out in no time & I don’t even want to think about what it will cost.

She’s not Neil. But she’s not bad.

I had heard of her before and was reminded by Wikipedia that she played with Jeff Beck's touring band a few years ago.

She's got very quick hands for a girl (I kid, I kid, but not really. They are quick for a girl and most guys). Nobody is Neil, but I'm sure she'll be great...

"Nilles was born into a family with multiple drummers and started drumming at age six. When interviewed by South African Drummer, she mentioned having two uncles, one cousin and a father who are drummers. Her father "taught me the first grooves as he realised I was interested in drumming."
