and bring him along in case Russell goes else where. Hopefully Russell signs in the end with us. I don't see Hollingsworth adding much to our class.

losing AJ McCarron.

The other bizarre rumor I heard was as follows:
1. Russell commits to Alabama
2. AJ McCarron decommits and commits to Oklahoma
3. Drew Allen decommits and commits to Ole Miss
4. Clayton Moore gives up his OM Grey Shirt and commits to MSU

Before you freak out, I question both the logic and sanity of this scenario. Aside from the fact that if requires far too much inside information from too many different sources, it smacks of somebody having missed their meds.

I think Bama is really the only place you need to worry about with Russell.

I can definitely see all that happening if #1 happens. I'm ok with Moore (would be funny after Ole Fans fans took 6 months explaining how he's better than Russell to see what they say if we ended up with him), I also think we better start looking at other QB options.

Russell is the key here.

We didn't pull Moore's scholarship because we wanted him.

I doubt his greyshirt will even be honored.

If they wanted him, they would not have pulled his offer.

I believe Mullen and Hudspeth are visiting him today. I'm sure they will give him any reassurance he may need.

that Ole Miss fans make scholarship decisions at Ole Miss?

What I said in my post was that it would be funny to see the spin that Ole Miss fans (anonymous message board posters) would put on Moore coming to MSU after almost ALL year every message board and Rebel dipshit recruiting analyst have tried to claim he was the better college prospect over Russell and Garrett.

I realize the coaches pulled his offer based on his temper tantrum. He's still a good player, just probably don't want him to be your only QB option.. He still has a TON of scholly offers, including Tennessee who has visited him recently.

3rd best QB in the state. Hell, he has Russell as the top prospect period now and has always had him as the top QB.

Edit to add: Did you just say he has a UT offer? Ok Clayton...whatever.

lives an hour from campus, would definitely - no questions asked - be coming to State had Croom remained employed with us, just wants to take all of his visits (which who could blame him), his mother doesn't have her hand out hoping for the 'best deal', and is not a certified primadonna like Hopson. But yeah, you're right, other than all of the things I just listed, this does sound exactly like the Scotty Hopson situation.

It's always been my contention that his offer list was bogus. I said that long before we committed him.

Our staff took their sweet time offering him and were quick to jerk it away. It's obvious what their thoughts are on him.

After he got himself kicked off his HS team in the state semifinals, Nutt figured (rightly in my opinion) he wasn't worth the trouble. Hell, his backup QB at Louisville who wound up playing close to 1/2 the season had better passing stats than Moore did, and his rushing stats weren't far behind him either.

Meridian = 2 hours from Starkville
Tuscaloosa = 1 1/2 hours from Meridian

I live in Meridian....and my brother and his family live in Starkville

buy a map. and grow up. I just said it was eerily like Hopson. Not that they came from the same womb.

That's if your're driving 40 mph. I can make that drive in an hour and 15 minutes. That's barely speeding. 2 hours on a moped though.

Because you're clearly going the wrong damn way. I used to drive through Meridian on my way to Starkville all the time and it never took more than an hour and 40 minutes. And that was back when Hwy 45 was a 2-lane death trap with a 55 speed limit. Now it's a nice 4-lane highway all the way with a 65 speed limit. Can't possibly take more than 1-1/2 hours now. Tuscaloosa is still about 10-15 minutes closer though.

even though he was committed to OM. The coaches told him on the front end that they would take two QB's, unless the first one was an A lister...Scheelhasse or Allen. I think they ultimately offered Moore in an attempt to steal Thames. However, as it became apparent that DT was headed to State regardless of where Moore went, they determined CM was expendable and at the first opportunity they cut him loose. They offered a greyshirt to soften the blow while hoping he takes a full ride somewhere else. JMHO.

It will be absolutely hilarious how screwed at QB we will be for the next couple years, especially after next year.

that he is not very fleet of feet. If that is the case, then with what UF does with Tebow and what they did at Utah with Alex Smith who was also a good running qb the new offense may not be best suited for him and his talents. Maybe that is why there is some hesitation on his part. And if that truely is the case in regards to his athletic ability maybe it will benefit MSU in the long run to go after a more athletic qb even though Russell has what everyone wants in recruits this time of year "stars".

hour and 15 if you take the Artesia cutoff. if i remember right, when ole miss got Eli all the Ole Miss people said that automatically they would get all the best receivers for the next 4 years, i wonder now why they don't think if state gets Russell, we will still struggle to get receivers
