But as long as we have Mullen we need different type quarterbacks in our system that are dual threats. Again though I hope we keep Russell for the time being
I doubt Relf would be the starter if we brought someone like Leach in as HC. That said I would hate the Leach hire almost as bad as hiring Malzahn.
and I think that should be settled within the next few weeks. Whether Mullen leaves after that probably wouldn't factor into any decision Tyler might make.
if nothing else this will definitely show if Mullen is intent on staying here for a while or not.
I was going to post something, but considering the Meyer news I figured it would get buried. I heard something about this last night.
It makes a ton of sense. Now if Mullen leaves and you hire a pro style offense head coach, then it doesn't make sense, but Russell just doesn't fit the offense that Mullen wants to run and it is probably best for both to look else where.
Mullen's offense works so damn well with a running QB, why he would change things for Russell makes no sense to me, and why Russell would want to run a Spread Option attack is beyond me. This guy would fit perfect in a Cutcliffe offense.

last week that I had heard he was transferring. Look we may get a "passing spread" coach or whatever, but we still need the freaking WRs. How hard is that to understand. The reason we aren't Dan Marino'ing the ball all around is because (mainly) we don't have WRs that (collectively) are in the top 50% of the SEC. Chill out on this. Until we get top flight WRs, Russell pretty much has no chance of starting with Relf here.

and now we are bringing in Prescott (provided Mullen stays) who will certainly be in the mix for 2012...Tyler can go juco for a season then go anywhere he wants for his last 2 seasons.
