I was wondering what was going on with this position in this year's class.
At 210 lbs. he's not gonna be involved in blocking for the running game any time soon.

Either will be catching passes or spending his first 2 years eating and weight training.

Might be a catch that will have a year to develop into the player the staff feels he's best suited for and it might not be as a TE.
My guess : Don't think he'd have flipped if he didn't agree to a redshirt year to see where he'd fit best after
Butler gets hold of him

He is fast - made states D1 for 400 (49--50 ish). He lists 4.4-4.5 for 40 and he does play fast . On defense he tracked down a breakaway runner with a 10-15 yd lead.. He put hits on people too. Plays strong and benches 300 (good for tall, long armed HS player). Competitive and upbeat kid. Doesn't seem to be a hands catcher but highlights were limited to low throws. His track coach said he didn't lose speed as he got bigger. Good frame.

He still has to play his senior year in high school. Therefore you are correct, he will not be involved in blocking for our running game or anything else any time soon.

Saw "Chariots of Fire" last weekend. Kid reminds me of the Sam Musssbini quote "You can't put in what God left out". Kid has speed and athleticism
Probably won't play as a freshman. But a year in the weight room and a D1 training program leaves a promising future.

Yep, the kid will be a senior in HS this year and has 2 years to put on 30lbs, I could do that in one month.

I was just reading about undersized LT when he got to North Carolina:

"Taylor was lightly recruited out of Williamsburg, Va., accepting one of his few scholarship offers from the University of North Carolina.

Buddy Curry, UNC linebacker:

"When he came to North Carolina, he was like 6-2 or 6-3, about 185 or 195 pounds. We knew he had good ability, but he had like two offers coming out of high school."

I sometimes wonder if tge weight is because of other sports and maybe not an issue. Kid is 210 on here but more likely 195…
But he is playing mult sports. I know when our son was in the middle of HS football season- he would be in the 260-280 area…but by middle of basketball -195 or so.

Looks like he played at least some safety last year. Returned kicks as well.

Definitely adds to the speed/athletic narrative.

"While the Scarlet Knights may not use the position much in the passing game, offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca still heavily values his tight ends as blockers in the run game."

Carnivore offense
If Travis Kelce had played at RU instead of Cincy he would be an anon
