A few points about tonight and a few points in general about our stadium atmosphere:

Tonight:

1. It was NOT 50/50 OSU vs RU fans in the stadium as some are claiming through the first half. Surely it sounded like that in the third quarter and by that point with our fans leaving it may have been 50/50.

2. Crowd was not loud or intimidating. Something was missing even after being down just 7-0 at the end of 1. Even the students lacked some juice it seemed.

3. A good job by the crowd getting in their seats by 8.. Not as good by the students particularly however, but what should we really expect different?

4. Outside the stadium in pregame felt B1G time. Tailgating scene is a big positive as it always has been... Block Party and beer garden are great... Kids activities well done as well.

Overall:

1. We've said it for years and it's still not fixed. The RU chant was at a low point tonight. As I said yesterday, it's now the fans in 131 (where I sit) and 130,129 that are returning the 'U' much too fast.

Just as someone stepped in to guide the students, they need to get someone out to the opposite end zone to make it known that the return 'U' will be slower.

2. Although at times the overall entrance sometimes seems either rushed or not cohesive enough, the addition of The Wolf of Wall Street theme with "The Hum" EDM remix is OUR ENTRANCE. I hope it's here to stay long term. I think that provides some long term tradition and hype for this program. LOVE IT.

3. Who won the 50/50 raffle? The restructuring of this has been very successful ... Though they gave tonight's winner a hell of a long time to claim lol

4. The RU dance team needs to get into the scandalous part of their routine much sooner than the final 10 seconds or so .. Just a thought

As far as number 1.... ive been agai st the whole rushing the u for years.

But the stadium didnt reply with the u very much. Even when sanu and el started it they said you less than 10 times and then the chant just died. The whole place was deflated from the start.

RV next to mine was a OSU guy he was very impressed with our tailgate scene. Spoke to a number of OSU fans and they were all really surprised how big time the lots are.

Missing that field goal took a lot out of me. And to be honest PSU scored 10 points vs them and I did not think we would score much.

We spent some time at the Block R Party. Love the Shoprite booth. Shoprite had great sandwiches, best food of the day. Thank you Shoprite. The band at the Block R Party was great. The seating is at the Block R part in inadequate especially in the beer area. Loved all of the bouncy toys for the kids. Hate that fact that most of block R area and seats are reserved for VIP's. Would like to see the Block R party expanded. The drum corp performance was great.

Love when the band marches into the stadium. Wish that they would stop and play a song. Husband needed a nap when we arrived at the stadium, so we missed the teams arrival. He is a bad fan. The parking lots looked pretty empty.

Love that the band exhibits energy when they take the field. Wish they would do something so that the entire stadium can hear the band when they are one the field. Most of their performance is facing in one direction so only one part of the stadium can here the performance. This was especially true when they played the alma mater. People want to sing but everyone on was at a different point in the song.

Love the horse and knight. OSU people were impressed with him. Still in love with the horse video.

The goofy knight is also really good. Has has an awesome personality and love his energy. Love his dancing.

Met some OSU fans, petty nice people. At the end of the day most of them still have to go back and live in Ohio. Felt sorry for the couple that just moved to Wooster, where one of the tourist highlights is going to see goats on the roof of a restaurant.

The team did nothing to generate or sustain a hostile environment. Missed FG on first drive and then do nothing with the Barrett fumble. The inevitability about was the result was going to be was clear pretty early. If the 50/50 winner would have claimed their prize promptly I would have been out there earlier. That was a growing mess on the field. Of course it would have been nice to see Rettig but I assumed Mr. Stubborn would have rationalized letting him sit again.

The students generate the pregame buzz in the stadium. When the student section is half filled at 8:00 the stadium loses its energy. I felt the same about MSU

Just curious my daughter who attends Rutgers was at the game She estimated that there was a least10,000 Ohio Sate fans there.
I would say that is a good estimate. Certainly more OSU people than PSU and UM last year. I think when we heard the game was a sellout, we may have erroneously thought it was due to RU fans. Guess we found out why last night. The OSU fans were loud from pre game and IMHO that helped deflate RU fans excitement. Our exuberance was nothing like it was with MSU. Wonder if the OSU fans infiltrated the AUDI club in significant numbers?

I've said this many times the R-U chant is our best chant and it is beyond comical we can't get it right. That being said there was somebody speaking on the mic when the chant was going on and that's why it died. Once it starts you have to let it go.

Agree with others who said the atmosphere was pretty dead yesterday, also agree that Ohio State represented better than Michigan State and PSU did. I think the reason is a lot of fans were fearful for exactly what happened yesterday - a complete blowout- so they dumped tix.

Agree, that Rutgers fans dumped their tickets. The parking lots were pretty empty. I don't think Rutgers has done fan morale any favors by artificially upping the points needed for the lots.

I felt the crowd was somewhat muted at first because there was not any belief we could win. I think eveveryone was just in awe we were playing them.

Students section was fine filling up at the start

Ru chant is failing

Pre game hype was awful and disappointing. Where was the countdown to ESPN/ABC coming on the air? Shots of the blimp? Scarlet rally towels? All the hype to get people in seats was so underwhelming. Call wolf like that too many times and students will never get in early. Horse entrance very well done. And lots of fans won't want to hear it but the only thing B1G worthy was the tailgating scene. Kudos to Ohio State fans who were friendly and classy. DJ and use of scoreboard done so poorly and introducing Knights in the NFL alphabetically is weak.

The behavior of some (not all) of the fans today was inappropriate. Most people were respectful of both teams and their fans, which was great and the way it should be. However, the bad behavior of a few fans reflects poorly on us all as hosts:

1. An altercation between two fans in my section occurred and went on way too long. Come on guys, let's all behave like adults. Security responded but was too slow in resolving the issue and removing the misbehaving fans.

2. When the OSU team came onto the field at the beginning of the game, a bunch of people in the stands near me booed them. Totally uncalled for.

3. The line for the shuttle to the RAC after the game was really long, but moved pretty quickly and efficiently. However, about ten fans (younger ones, maybe students?), just cut the line. When a number of other people on the line objected, the line cutters said something rude in response, ignored them, and just continued cutting their way to the front of the line. Let's all be respectful of each other. Perhaps security needs to monitor or manage the shuttle line more closely.

The pre-game atmosphere outside the stadium was electric and everybody (RU and OSU fans) seemed to be having a great time. Let's repeat that every week.

Hopefully, the visiting OSU fans had a great trip overall.

On tv, looked like the student sections was not even close to filled at 8pm.

Did they eventually pack in the empty metal rows of seats?

The Audi club had a handful of OSU fans, no more than the usual amount of visiting fans...unlike the rest of the stadium which I estimate at 12,000 plus.

Me likey 3:30 pm and 8:00 pm games as far as tailgates go. Save the noon and 1:00 pm starts for late in the football season.

I actually feel this was the turning point. It sapped most of the early energy. Even though we slowed them down for the rest of the first quarter, not putting points up on that first drive hurt.

None of the haters want to hear this. We were facing the #1 team in the country. The difference in the talent level made it the mismatch.

I can see why people think 10K OSU fans. But really, 1 in 5 seems a bit much. But it was close to that.
