Michigan has a great run defense and will be expected to control time of possession and pull away in the second half. Lack of an efficient passing game will likely doom RU’s offensive production. Unless Michigan has multiple turnovers, the matchup is difficult on paper. Of course Rutgers has given Michigan fits lately as far as keeping games very close.

Rutgers has a mediocre passing attack and they are playing on the road. The betting issue is Rutgers ability to hold Michigan to less than 30 points.

Not surprising at all though I expected us to be a 28 pt dog at Michigan… excellent D … potentially a potent offense… return of JH to the sideline. If I were Rutgers I would just stay home next Saturday as the outcome has already been determined .

think it'll be in the 27-28.5 range once it becomes widely available. FanDuel isn't great at making their own lines

Harbaugh knows all about how insane your last sentence is. Coaching Stanford as 41 point underdogs sitting at 0-3 to #1 USC in 2007. Oh and starting a qb who never played before since the other guy was suffering from seizures. You always play the game.

Certainly the kind of game where Michigan scores twice late after leading by only two scores. This has Bad Beats written all over it. Lol

That opening line seems way too high. This team is more disciplined and capable than teams in the past years but the line doesn’t reflect that. I would’ve expected something like 22-24.5 to be the line.

Rutgers has given Michigan some good games the last 2/3 meetings. Arguably could’ve / should’ve won the 2020 & 2021 matchups .

This is a big game for RU to show the rebuild is real. You HAVE TO be competitive for at least 3 qtrs and keep the game interesting.

Perception matters. The final score spread matters.

Seeing us struggle on defense this past week, it dosen’t seem outrageous
I think (hope) we’ll be better. Their success was largely due to their QB running it himself 22 times. I doubt anyone else we play comes close. It’s too risk. Drones will eventually get injured if he continues at that pace.

It’s all about turnovers. Rutgers needs a short field to have any chance of scoring. Bully ball won’t do against Michigan and RU has no serious passing attack. On defense, RU’s DB’s play too soft and if McCarthy has time he’ll pick them apart. So, if RU continues to play error free ball (and that’s asking a lot) and can force a turnover or two, take the points.

How does the betting public see our high scores and see through that and know our offense is anemic but not know the defense is very good ?

Must be the Harbaugh effect.

Matchmakers have been wrong in all 3 games so far.
Have they? Their job is to make money. Even if a line feels 'off' they're not trying to guess they exact score, they're trying to get the most profit they can based on how they feel the game will go.

They think RU has the worst defense Michigan has faced so far? C’mon man.

This is more of an insult to Michigan betters then RU.

It was sarcasm genius… maybe you should read my past 3 week’s posting about predictions , goals and our team. So yes I’m insane about the potential of this team. Where are all the predictors of doom for the past 2+ weeks. Gone and hoping we lose big so they can piss all over Schiano… those are the DB’s you should chastise for their insanity .

We didn't really struggle that much. They had 16 points and 319 total yards. Most of the game was playing preventish type defense.
Well,
We will see
It seems every game I have long periods of time thinking the offense is not so good, and this past game both the offense and defense seemed problematic
You can’t just go by the final scores as to how the team is doing, or assuming that we aren’t really fully trying at offense or defense
This game coming up will reveal a lot
I would hope that, if perchance we have a lead we don’t try to sit on it offensively, or prevent defense thereafter
We probably can’t win that way this time

If we try to sit on a lead we lose… if by chance we stay close into the 2nd half you don’t hide… you open it up and hang on tight. Our team knows we can’t win if we don’t score.

the "Shelby effect" is hope for the bad and try and make it look much worse.
But I won't complain, that's what trolls do and only pointing that out.
Have a nice day the RU win over VT had to put a frown on your face
but the thought of Rutgers losing to Michigan is sure to make you smile.
That's how the "Troll effect" works

Vegas set the line at 31.5. The betting public has brought it down to 26.5 thus far

No, one book (who is really, really bad at creating their own lines) opened it at 31.5. Vegas books opened between 25 and 26.5. The betting public at fanduel that moved it from 31.5 to 27.5 at their book will account for, maybe, 0.5% of their betting handle on that game.

Book is thinking Michigan throws a shutout. Stack box make GW throw under pressure.
If GW can be accurate not get happy feet we should keep it close. Monangai going to get ton of attention.
