Per NIT rules student tickets are $10 each, but Rutgers athletics is picking up the tab so all student tickets are FREE tomorrow night - either going online or presenting RU ID at the window. Students can bring guests for $10 also.

Cool move by RU, student section has been great all year

Why would NIT mandate a student ticket price at hosting teams venues ?! Does NIT claim all ticket revenues from these games ???

The NIT requires host schools to sell a certain number of tickets with all that money going to the NIT. That is why many schools especially smaller ones opt out of hosting.

That’s interesting. So schools could actually owe money after incurring the operating expenses of hosting a game ?! I guess there’s a break even point and then above that the host school takes an additional revenue for the year.

It's a no-brainer for RU to host NIT games. We have historically had strong attendance figures when hosting.

The exception was 2006. Mulcahy was preparing to give Waters the boot so RU refused to host. He didn't want Waters and Douby to succeed and go out on a high note. It would have made it more difficult for him to hire his guy, FHJ.
