I wonder if he is fired 24 hours from now. My guess is it’s better than 50% odds.

Guy is 66-10, that's probably the highest win percentage of all time. Tough job to step into when that's not good enough. Would be interesting to see who they would hire, especially at this part of the year.

He shoulda been fired 24 hours after the Michigan game. Why not just be honest about what the criteria is for that job? One game matters.

I laugh when I see the Day takes from OSU fan. My best friend is one and he is saying the same thing. That losing to Michigan 4 times in a row is a fireball offense. I remember back in the days when we tried to run TO outta town because he couldn't win the "big one". He had numerous losses to OU also. Then at some point he figured it out and the rest is history.

My thought was that yeah he loses to Michigan. That game means more than the other 11 or 12 he's banking every year? He says YUP...

SO I say "what if he goes 9-4 but beat Michigan every year then what? He says "that is much more bearable ".

I just said damn that's amazing. Iyam Day probably should go find another job anyways if THIS is what it is all about.

Like you said when you hire a coach basically just tell him you HAVE to beat Michigan more than not or u will be fired. No matter what you do in the other games the easiest way to get fired is losing to Michigan...PERIOD.

For the life of me I couldn't fire a guy with that record. At some point I'd think he figure it out. But hey the OSU is different. To think we had fans batching about Solich getting fired. This would be unheard of...

They won’t fire him, as long as they don’t get blown out. (unlikely) I wish they would though cause I don’t think they’ll find someone better.

It’s the same way on the Michigan side…Harbaugh was down to his last chance when he finally beat Ohio State. I’m sure losing 4 in a row to Michigan is sitting towards the front of everyone’s mind at Ohio State. That type of rivalry is tough for us to understand. I seriously think unless OSU wins the playoff they will turn right back to being pissed about Michigan.

Take how we feel when Colorado or Miami came to play here, and multiply it several times.

Firing day would be amazingly funny. Probably dumb for OSU, though as long as they hire an above avg coach they would be fine.

Firing Day would be the same mistake Nebraska made firing Frank Solich 58-19, it could put them in purgatory forever. The only thing that would save tOSU is that they have more talent in the cupboard than NU did at the time, but the portal could eliminate that talent quickly.

I agree with you, but Urban was 83-9 at OSU. High expectations. Day has a great record but has also lost 4 straight to Michigan.

They are making such a big deal of the weather and it being supposed to be so a big advantage for OSU. It will be used as another excuse to fire Day if they lose. I want to see them fire Day and go 8-4 every while still losing to Michigan. They need to be humbled.

Vrabel has been mentioned for Cincinnati if Zac Taylor is let go.
I would be genuinely shocked if Cincy fires Taylor. Brown is known for holding on to coaches forever, and ZT is an offensive coach. The offense is still pretty good. Brown would rather save money than win.

So who’s coaching Ohio state next year?
Judging by the bags under his eyes, Day might want to consider letting someone else do it.
Day was and is under extreme pressure for the Michigan debacles . A NC obviously cools them for the moment. But the mentally of OSU is brutal. If Day continues his Michigan problems and doesn’t follow up with success after he will be in serious trouble. As unbelievable as it sounds that’s OSU on a nutshell.

That was Nebraska during the Solich era. OSU might want to use us as a case study in what NOT to do with a successful program.

Not close to comparable. Day has a program that is legit top-5 every year with A+ talent everywhere. Solich inherited a program that was top-5 and it was mediocre by the time he was fired.
The more apt comparison is Osborne's record against Switzer. NU fans in the late 80s were getting frustrated with the losses to OU despite regularly winning 10+ games a year.

The problem I have with him is he lets off the gas. Should have won that game by 30. Also has had some close games with us because the team wasn't motivated or focused.

Just remember kids, just because you draw on your face with a sharpie doesn't mean you can't be bank-rolled to success.

Yeah that's a good comparison too. TO would have been **** canned in today's day and age of college football.

However had Frank been coaching in the current playoff system. He probably would have been in not only the 2001 NC but also the 99, a team that went 12-1 and whooped Tennessee in the fiesta bowl. That would have been 2 NC's which equate to Days total in an era where 1 loss doesn't kill you.

2001 we got beat like a rented mule by Miami and got torched by Colorado the game prior.

and OSU lost to an average Michigan the game before the playoffs. Multiple team in this years playoff got pounded in the first round. Still they were playing for a chance at the NC.
