Worse

Phil's Ryder Cup record isn't very good and other players, such as Hunter Mahan, had more success on the tour this year. I like Phil, but by his own standards, his golf this year was pretty lackluster.

If it were in Europe I'd say hell no, but Phil seems to find a partner he gels with and beats a team he shouldn't.

The reason I asked is -- the Golf Chanel folks were already talking about

his leadership contribution to the team ... kinda sounded like they were already making excuses for him before the matches even started

Better

I like the guy. he has had a poor year by his standards.

I think he is invaluable in alternate shot and fourball matches for:
-he can go on crazy birdie runs (need someone to go nuts and the other guy pick it up on his bad holes)
-he can get up and down from anywhere
-his putter can get real hot
-he lacks motivation this year, ryder cup should motivate him
-his bad holes are not as penal with a partner

Furyk is the weakest link on the team. The four rookies have either won majors or been right there in contention coming down the stretch.
simpson- US open
bradley- PGA
Dufner- lost to bradley in playoff, been right there in many others
Snedeker- He has got the it factor right now and contended in lots of majors

I think the "situational" type of golf is very different from everyday tourneys and thus it's hard to predict how someone will play ... but as of late it seems that he has been hanging his head and drooping his shoulders a little to much but I like the points you just made ... Furyk on the other hand I don't much care for but he is a tough competitor when one on one and I thought his record was pretty good in the Cup matches ... gonna have to disagree on him being the weakest link thing

He is sponsored by Exxon. How is he a tree hugger? I hate the ******* but I'm pretty sure he isn't worried about the environment.

How would being sponsored by Exxon be relevant to whether he cares about the environment?

worse. He cannot play under pressure. Ryder is the ultimate in that.

40 pga tour wins, 4 majors. I'd say he is just fine under pressure.

He's a good guy to have for the team due to his experience but as others have noted his RC record isn't spectacular and he's been kind of in a slump this year per his standards. All things considered I'd rather have him than not.

Phil got 2 points today with Keegan Bradley. Michelson just stuck a 3 footer to win. 2nd win today for Phil.

Like Love just said The guy against him just shot TEN under on his own ball.
Tiger would have won any other match played this afternoon...(except against Bubba).

Watched it in person today... Tiger couldn't hit in the 17ing fariway. After today, I'd take Phil over Tiger all day long.

You must have missed the afternoon scession

Tiger was about 5 under on the back, even if he did not hit the fairways.

The alternate shot play in the AM was not good.

Tiger needs a different partner. Steve Stricker sucked *** today. I'd pair Tiger with Dustin Johnson.

Well whoop-de-do I watched it on TV today. Are you an expert because you were there? Again they win the match if Coulsaert doesnt go unconscious.

Are you freakin serious ? Good thing there wasn't pressure on the par 3 he drilled to win the match. Dude had all carry , short sided pin , and put it to a gimme for the conceded win. Really???????

I was obviously wrong ... I think from now on I'll just do the opposite of every

1st initial thought I have

But you said you doubt he cared about the environment.

They aren't fond of what they do to the enviroment. Tree huggers drive cars and use oil.

I'll give you that tree huggers don't like oil companies, but I think the term tree hugger comes with a connotation of the person being an idiot, as in they're too stupid to understand they would not like the world they advocate for.

But as far as caring about the environment, oil companies aren't particularly bad for the environment unless you blame them for allowing the world population to grow to 6 billion people in the first place. But taking our current population as a given, trying to support it without adequate production of oil and natural gas would do some pretty horrendous things to the environment and would certainly leave the environment looking a lot worse off.

He was paired with the weakest player on the team all week. He can't hit the ball for strick. It's tough to win 2 vs. 1

Why is stricker always included in discussions. He never wins anything. Who couldn't have predicted how his weekend would unfold. He sucks and DL3 should take responsibility for A. Picking him in the first place and B. Running him out there yesterday at all. Mickelson got caught by some insane Rose Putts today. It was the geezers Furyk and terrible stricker that lost it for us. Last Ryder please for both of them. I am embarrassed bc of today's showing.
