Is it just me or does the 'rythmic applause' that our home baseball crowd starts when we're facing a key pitching or hitting moment just scream lack of imagination like nothing else? It makes me think that the only people in the stands are the Mr and Mrs that have been going to games since Paul Gregory was coaching. It's just lame. Can we not pipe in some crowd noise or something?

....it is my strongly held belief that he is singularly responsible for most of what you're referring to, as well as at least 90% of all Maroon-White cheers that originate from the stands.

But damn if he doesn't have good candy.

the clapping builds up until right when the pitcher throws the pitch, then stops right as the pitch is thrown. i'd rather be the pitcher.

Piping in crowd noise would be lamer. But I think you are right about the only people being in the grandstand being old farts. I wish there were a good way for people to sit in seats that are unoccupied until the 5th inning or whatever it is now, but no one seems to be able to figure it out.

By the way, I think the lamest cheer we do is the BAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLFFFFFFFOOOOUUUUURRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!

It's almost like we're encouraging our hitters to be passive.

1989 Regional. MSU was facing Indiana State. The Sycamore relief pitcher had a habit of touching his cap, and people noticed, so they started counting each and every time he touched his cap. He was talking some MSU people right after the game and mentioned that he didn't know what was going on but every time he looked at the Indiana State dugout, he saw his teammates laughing.

Is the chant/song/chorus that starts before the tip of the basketball and continues a capella for about 15-20 seconds past the start of the game. Wooo!

I'm serious.
