He wins because his teams are better prepared due to the work the coaches put in. His secret to success is no secret: he pretty much outworks everyone else.

Saban went to LSU after mediocre seasons at Michigan St. Louisiana State has no excuses in losing games with all of the in-state talent. Saban next chooses Bama which by reputation alone should always garner top 10 recruiting classes. However, I have no doubt that he outworks everyone else. I heard a story about ripping the janitors at Bama and getting 2 of them fired when he first got there for emptying his garbage can in his office without his knowledge of who was in his office and when. He is a control freak of the highest order and it has served him well over the years. It certainly feels like dark clouds loom over the SEC west for the next 4-5 years no matter if he stays or goes. Hopefully his ego will push him to attempt the NFL again.
