It is with great sadness that I post this. Last night former Stonewall Coach Dick Krol passed away. Our community has truly lost an amazing person. I can't begin to explain the respect I have for this wonderful coach or express the love I have for him because of his dedication to this community. Thanks for a lifetime of service to others. RIP Coach.

Prayers for his family, friends, and community. SJ and Riv had some epic games when he coached. I remember him wearing the same hat for all the years I saw him coach. Didnt know him personally but always thought he was a great coach. Just never was the same rivalry after he retired. He will be missed.

You probably remember as I do the night at Riverheads when Richard Long almost single-handedly beat us. So yes Coach Krol had some glory days. Maybe this year's SJ team can dedicate their wins and future seasons to him.

Dick was the king of flip-flops when he was at Lancaster where he also coached track and field. Also coached football at Clifton Forge and Natural Bridge. Coached 300 games at Stonewall Jackson. Won 193 career games at his 4 stops

And made football relevant at Stonewall Jackson! They never had a winning season in Mount Jackson until he became the head coach and along the way, Coach Krol won a couple of regional titles as well. They just named the field at SJHS after him a couple of years ago. He will most definitely be missed up this way by so many in the Valley who either coached against or coached with him as well as the many who played for him. God rest his soul!

Also won a state title in track at Stonewall as well!
