I keep hearing the Saints will be even better when Shockey, Colston, and Patten come back. With Brees completing 72% (average) of his passes for over 358 (average) yards over the last 4 games while they were out, is there that much room for improvement? The Saints have a 31 points per game average over that time.

Buy/Sell- There will be a significant improvement for the Saints in completion percentage, yardage, and points when they come back.

The Devery Henderson's cant be counted on week in and week out. Its interesting though as Bush has really started to play better and makes up for Colston's loss.

Now that I am really thinking about it, what will the offense be able to do with a healthy Patten, Colston, Deuce, Shockey, and a very productive Bush (insert vaginal refernced joke laugh here)?

There is way too much talent there. Sounds like the Saints need to cut a player or two loose for a new Deuce and some more D players.

improvement, yes. significant improvement, no.... I don't think there is room for significant improvement.

What it will do is give the Saints more options to create mismatches. Currently there is no WR that can play the physical role that Colston brings. Shockey brings a better mix to the TE position as far as blocking and receiving. Billy Miller is a good receiver, not so good blocker. Campbell the opposite. I think a healthy Shockey will improve the running game. I think the Saints have missed Colston in the red zone. Not that they have been ineffective but Colston is a beast in the red zone. Patten will not have much impact due to Moore playing so well.

Lance Moore has been a pleasant surprise (at least he surprised me), and Billy Miller and Mark Campbell have filled in nicely at the Tight End spot.

But I do think it will be nice to get Shockey back if for no other reason than to provide some energy.

In a related note, I read where the Saints cut Terrance Copper, which may be a sign that Colston is in fact ready to come back.

never got a chance to add my 2 cents yesterday.

While I don't think there is much room for statistical improvement, I do think there is room for more consistancy. Right now Brees is elevation everyone else- with healthy talent around him there isn't so much pressure for him to do that. Games like the one against the Vikings are less likely to happen. And as someone said- the Saints get their physical side back with Shockey and Colston.

Just as important, I hope all Ellis comes back soon at DT. I also don't know why Porter can't play with a cast on his wrist. A one handed Porter is still better then Jason David.....

But I think the biggest difference will be:

1. Yards after the catch (YAC)
2. Clutch plays
3. Better all around blocking
4. Better running game (these guys coming back will make defenses adjust)

I think we see Ellis back @ ATL after the bye.

and you might see Hollis Thomas back on the roster by then. If we get Hollis back healthy for the last 8 games with Ellis, Clancy, Young, Lake, Smith, Grant and McCray...that D line would be sick
