Tyler Shough looked decent.
Definitely the best they have but none of those guys would start most anywhere else. Not sure what they were thinking drafting him. They needed a good trade. Rattler ain't it either.

Its more than needing a QB. I hope the guys they had on OL are not the starters. Chargers mauled those guys. Zero running game. Very little protection for the QB. How could they possibly look good ?? Brady would have struggled with that crew. Mostly backups I hope. Looks like another garbage season tho

They had a 3-4 year run where they still had Brees and they had a couple of GREAT draft classes circa 2016-2017 that they rode for a few years. Probably should’ve won a Super Bowl with the 18-19 team. Flash forward to now, Brees has been gone a while and those draft classes they rode for years have either moved on elsewhere or gotten older and more broken down. And so the roster in general is not very good.

In short, yes, they should have a very early draft pick in next year’s draft.

That non call against the Rams is an all-time screw job. Pass interference AND targeting and neither gets called. They would've beaten the Patriots that year. I'm still not over it. Worst officiating decision in the history of sports.

ETA: I just went back and watched it again which I do not recommend. It's still infuriating.

"Saints may not win a game this year"

Hell, I kid you not, that was the predominant thought from most Saints fans for the first 20 years of their existence. From the inaugural 1967 season until 1987 they didn't make a playoff. Those that didn't live through it just don't realize how bad they were for decades. Fans were cautiously optimistic they may win a game or two every year but it was nothing they counted on. I went to a game in old Tulane Stadium about 1970 or as a wee young lad and saw these guys w/ something on their backs and a hose coming out of it and they were pouring into cups. It was stadium vendors pouring beers out of a pump up pressurized tank. Photo below of the guy in the middle w/ tank on his back. They did it in the Dome for a short while after moving there in 1987 and started calling it "Dome Foam".

I don't even like the Saints but that was one of the worst calls of all time.

They kept trying to just plug someone in after Brees, instead of starting a total rebuild. Also, the salary cap issue each year drives me insane. We are looking at a three year climb out of this hole and it sucks. We should have started the climb years ago.

How are teams like the Eagles and Chiefs able to navigate the cap so much better than the Saints? Can we defer some of that money? I feel like we've been in the post-Brees wilderness for quite a while.

Because Howie Roseman and Brett Veach are really good at what they do and Mickey Loomis is Mickey Loomis.

Also the QB situation can’t be ignored. The best teams have good to great QB play, the Saints have had terrible QB play for the last four years.

They thought they could salvage something out of Winston and then Carr…. Turns out they predictably could not.

Really thought Spencer Rattler was going to be a star in the NFL.

Thats understandable- dude is as mid as they come

Don’t know how I forgot because he was the QB at the last Saints game I went to. They played the Ravens on MNF a few years ago and the Ravens just sat on them for 4 quarters because they knew the Saints weren’t scoring. Felt like a typical State vs Bama game from the Saban era.

Mickey Loomis has to go. One of the worst in the NFL right now in my opinion.

Did not realize he’s been GM since 2002. Obviously there were some good times in there but they haven’t made the Playoffs in 5 years in a frankly pathetic division. They’ve had among the easiest schedules in the NFL multiple times and can’t even get a wild card spot. It’s time.

It's the QB. I actually like some of his moves outside of that position. But gambling on Derek Carr should be a fireable offense. He was scared to hit and throwing hospital balls in Oakland. Nothing changed when he got to NO. I'd have rather ridden the Jameis rollercoaster. If they truly are tanking for Arch, they are doing a great job of it.

The legend as Sean Payton tells it is they were about to draft Mahomes in 2017 and the Chiefs traded up in front of them and got him. If they get Mahomes, Payton probably never leaves.

They also could’ve had Lamar Jackson in 2018 and traded out of the back of the first round instead.

Point being, there were opportunities to find a young, worthy successor to Brees. And they never really did it through the draft for whatever reason.
