Saints sign CB Mccauley, waive McAlister
The Associated Press

METAIRIE, La. -- The New Orleans Saints have signed cornerback Marcus McCauley and waived veteran cornerback Chris McAlister.
The Saints also placed linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar on injured reserve on Tuesday because of a hamstring injury that occurred Sunday during New Orleans' victory at Washington.
McCauley, who is 6-foot-1, 203 pounds, was a third-round draft choice of Minnesota in 2007 and played in 27 games during the previous two seasons in the same defensive backfield as former Viking and current Saints safety Darren Sharper. He started 10 games with the Vikings after showing promise as a rookie, but was cut shortly before this season began.
McAlister was signed by New Orleans three weeks ago. He played in two games with the Saints.

METAIRIE, LA. * The New Orleans Saints have waived fullback Kyle Eckel
and signed linebacker Anthony Waters off of the Buffalo Bills'
practice squad.
The Saints also announced Wednesday that they have signed rookie
fullback Marcus Mailei from the Philadelphia's practice squad.
Waters, a 6-foot-3, 238-pound former Clemson player, was a third-round
draft pick by San Diego in 2007 and spent two seasons with the Chargers,
playing in seven games.
He was signed by the Saints in April but was one of the club's final
cuts of the preseason.
Eckel joined the Saints on Oct. 29 after Heath Evans' season-ending
knee injury. He played in five games for New Orleans, primarily as a
blocker.
Mailei, who is 6 feet, 255 pounds, played at Weber State.
