This game went like this. Amherst gets ball on 20 'three and out. Salem gets ball on own 40, first play 60 yard run for Td Zavione Wood. Amherst gets ball on own 20---three and out. Salem gets ball on own 40--- 60 yard Td pass. 14 0 Salem had run two plays. This game was over quick. Amherst scores twice in second half against a combination of second stringers and jv team. This final score could have been a LOT uglier. Starting tailback Persinger did not play but did dress.

Could have been much worse, as you said. 51-0 one play into the second half. I was proud of Salem’s 2s and 3s, who played all but the first play of the second half and were only out-scored 13-7 by Amherst’s starters. Not much to glean from this type of game, really. Just glad the team got through it with no apparent injuries, as these 1-8 matchups are usually not much more than an opportunity to get someone hurt. Onward and upward.

The team took Amherst seriously and it showed. Game should have been that bad and it was. Missing #1 WR, missing starting OL, missing starting RB (I think all are due back next week) but they wanted to put this game away early and they did.

Zavione Wood 7 carries for 210 yards and 3 TDs btw.
