Salisbury’s program will rise back up In the future. They have good history. Never will forget the 2010 2A State Championship game they won. 30-0. Can’t remember the team at the time they beat but they were fast and had good talent at the time. Romar Morris was one of them.
2010 was the year that Thomasville handed Salisbury the conference championship at their place. Down 10-7, Thomasville moved the ball down the field to the Salisbury two. With seconds to go, the Bulldog quarterback was trying to run one more play with no timeouts. He rushed to the line and looked to the sideline for the down marker, which showed third down. In a heady play, he successfully spiked the ball.
The only problem was that the Salisbury chain gang had neglected to change the down marker and it had been fourth down. Game over. Would they have scored? Never know? With a 12-1 record instead of 11-2, the game with Carver, a 35-28 loss, would have been at home instead of on the road. Would they have won that one at home? Who knows? Would Salisbury have been in the championship game, while playing on the road?
All speculation, but just illustrates how games can turn on the smallest things.
