I don't pretend to know what going on in Charlotte, but I feel like this is his 2nd or 3rd time getting in trouble enough to where it's made the news.

Ther DAYLAN SMOTHERS thread has posts regarding this situation.

I do not know of him being "in trouble" before. He left Harding after winning the title for Hickory Ridge. Did not get in trouble at HR but not a good fit. Had forfeits last season but the last two seasons have been a bit crazy.

Coach Greiner is in a great spot at WC if they can get through this stuff. His personality is a perfect fit over there and that's why the parents love him and the players love him. Everyone can coach, some are great coaches, and very few are dfference makers in young mens lives. Greiner is a difference maker.

I believe he was not a good fit and that mistake was the reason they were able to use to get him out.
His team was also kicked out of the playoffs for fighting. “Winter is coming” never happened that season and he was out before the next season. I think he was the wrong hire for Hickory Ridge.

AH, yes. I remember that. The spring practice would have happened after that. The fight was probably the craziest I have seen in NC although a couple down east, Wilson County and Pitt County (I think), rivaled it. The Marlboro County fan/player brawl twenty years ago was the craziest.

I’m sure Greiner had multiple offers after the championship season. Never understood him deciding on HR. I think he understood that it was a bad fit for him, too. It never felt like a fit for either side. I hope he survives this because he and WC are a perfect match. Admin. just needs to be more hands-on with the athletics department.

Greiner WC was match made in heaven. Parents and players love him. He is hands on with those guys. Not sure admin really understands sometimes. U want a better school, better test, better morale? U KEEP guys like Greiner and support them 100%.

He was offered the Havelock job. Moving a family across the state and having a spouse with very strong employment was an issue. Cabarrus pays very well and it is NOT CMS.

He was asked to resign from HR when he had a full contact scrimmage in the spring.
There is no way they fired a coach for going full contact. They would've fined him for breaking rules and he would've been in trouble but fired??? Come on.... He did something serious to get fired. My guess is recruiting if there were no laws broken

CMS would definitely fire you for going full contact outside of practice dates, especially if the administrative staff, co-signs on getting rid of you. I've seen them fire coaches for less. It was definitely not recruiting. HR is one of those programs were coaching personalities matter a lot. His was not a good fit for HR.

Easy to use it to get him out the door when the fit was not a good one. As Nepsy said coaches have been fired in CMS for less.

Not sure what was the exact reason but I have been told there were some that wanted him gone.

If every school he's been at wants him gone the only consistent is him. What could he possibly be doing to rub this many different people the wrong way? State Championship winning coaches don't normally get fired like this at multiple schools. He must think he doesn't have to answer to anyone

He brings up a good point, but he was not fired at Harding

No one at Harding wanted him gone.

Many think there are a few former coaches and some WC “supporters” that are flaming this. The coaches did not get what they wanted and Greiner did not allow the supporters their prior carte blanche. Apparently a trainer has made statements that are contradicted by players and parents.

Been to WC practices. They get plenty of water and breaks that are consistent with football practice in the hot summer months. There was a time u practiced at 6-7am, took a break and came back that night and ran til u literally died from exhaustion. Its called football practice....

There are just some disgruntled ex-coaches pushing this issue and the AD is no longer there. Would venture to say 95% of the players/supporters/parents are behind Greiner 100%. If greiner gets back watch the suppoet he gets. It will be incredible.

Should have never been suspended. Another chip on their shoulder to use as motivation and can be used to clean up the outside influences (that are everywhere). The whole thing was BS. People with an axe to grind, people that were no longer there, people that should not be there, people that should not be involved, people that do not do their job properly.
