We will be extremely fortunate to break even in league play.

Frankly, I’m not sure who we can beat in conference.

OL is absolutely awful. Frankly, outside of three or four plays against Va Tech Sellers hasn’t looked so great.

Next week promises to be ugly.

Unless we get 3 scores from D and ST every game, it’s likely to be a long season. Save for the bomb to 8 last week, our offense has looked like garbage….. against weak comp.

So far, my view of Teasley and Shula is pretty poor. We’re years in with Teasley and we haven’t improved one iota. Shula is 3 games in with decent skill players, and we look worse than under either of the prior 2 OCs, which is really, really saying something.

We have started poorly before, only to improve greatly as the year went on.

Granted, we've also started poorly before only to stay crappy as the year goes on.

Here's to that slim hope our coaches were using this game as practice, keeping it vanilla so as not to show UGA anything, and our team was just "not up" for the game.

I’m no sunshine pumper, but I can’t help but think “same old Carolina fans” when I read this. We very well may end up being a mediocre team this season, but if this is the “same old Carolina” would we really be surprised to see us play like absolute garbage against bad teams like VT and SC State but then play well enough to win against good competition? I’m not as old as some on this board, but I’ve seen us play down to our competition plenty of times and still actually have a pretty good and competitive team. Come on y’all, good lord.

The problem is Sellers bailed out poor OL blocking last year with his legs. This year the OL is bad again and everyone knows what Sellers can/will do. There is no surprise in the offense. 7 or 8 wins tops and 6 is a real possibility.

My question still remains. Would anyone really be surprised if we looked like absolute garbage this week but then came out and played well the next few weeks afterward?

Unfortunately, I wouldnt be surprised either way.

I wouldnt be surprised at all if we played well the next couple of weeks. They are some of the easier SEC games we will have. But I also wouldnt be surprised to see us play similarly.

Last week you were saying it was cruel for us to play SC State --- now this.

Hang in there Botman.

Let's see how we respond this week before you fully unleash your Beamer disgust again for the year.

Try to recall how foolish all of your BOTs looked after you bashed the team ad nauseam right up until the 2nd half of last season.

This particular BOT below is already off the rails this morning. Try to reel him in. 👇

If you haven’t already, don’t waste your money to watch this team.

Beamer did it to himself.

Don’t even deserve to be ranked.

USF would kick our butts

I am in full agreement. And that’s my point. We haven’t lost, and given the way Carolina performs historically in these types of games early in the season I wouldn’t hit the panic button yet.

3 games in a row is not an aberration.
Two of those three being wins. This is Carolina football. Even when we win it’s often ugly. Some of our best Spurrier teams won very ugly, often against lesser competition. Back away from the ledge right now folks.

See 2012. One of, if not the best team in Carolina history. Squeaked by Vandy by 4 points. Only beat lowly Wofford by 17. My point is not to say we will be in the playoff, nor that we will barely scrape over .500 this season. My point is that yes, this is Carolina football, and that means close wins and looking like crap against lesser opponents is rarely an indication of the ceiling or floor for our team.

The QB will never look good until the OL problems are fixed, running for your life is what we watched Sellers did last year and caught people offguard. Well he's running for his life again this year but teams are ready for it, Sellers will still make some great plays but things better change quickly on the OL, something that hasn't happened in many years. I am neutral on Shula, it's his first year as OC for the Gamecocks but it's the same old story, nothing will work if your OL is pathetic. Vandy will tell us a lot, should be full motivation for the team next week.

Life as a Gamecock fan. We always have to believe and have hope in spite of the evidence. We can never feel optimistic as a result of what we have seen on the field.
