Union @ Bear Grass Charter
I have to say I am impressed with Union..... are they a great team no but coming back from what they were is great. I believe the offense can produce against some teams with the RB they have. I don't expect them to dominate BCH but I think they pull out a solid win for the program.
Union 30-21

Hobbton @ Dixon
Hobbtons non conference schedule is doing them no favors lets be honest.... no disrespect but I wouldn't be shocked if they enter conference play 0-4. They put together a solid performance against 6A Triton but the team still has so many kinks for flaws to address before winning. They have the HC and athletes to do it though so hopefully they are clicking come conference play. Dixon is a solid team and I just don't see Hobbton keeping up with them.
Dixon 42-14

Clinton vs WRH
Clinton was in my opinion very disappointing last week... everyone is talking about the QB had a spectacular game but I'm not seeing it. He had around 200 yards and at least 100 of them were off zero read tunnel/bubble screens. One of his passing TDs was a touch pass on a motion and he had less than 50% completion percentage. His pocket awareness is no good, any pressure and he runs 20 yards backwards. The Clinton defense did not adjust to what Midways offense was giving them, it just seems stubborn. Wallace is ground and pound and looked better last week vs a good Kinston team. I don't see clintons defense being able to stop wallace at all and clintons offense will have ZERO run game. The run game has been mediocre at best so far.
Wallace 49-21

Midway vs Lakewood
Midway is firing on all cylinders lets be honest.... that offense is moving the ball all over the field. The defense looks great I know they allowed a good amount of points vs Clinton but from what I saw they had some key players going down with what seemed like cramps or just fatigue... which is understandable because Clinton spammed 4 verts like a video game last Friday. Lakewood is no pushover and the hate they have for Midway is not talked about enough. Lakewood plays their best ball every time Midway comes up and I expect the same this week. This will be a very physical game but Midway will not be denied.
Midway 48-28

Union v. BGC
I too am impressed with Union, think they pull out a good win this week as BGC is never as good as their ranking shows.
Union 31-14

Hobbton v. Dixon
After a battle tested first 2 weeks I think now is when Hobbton will begin to find an identity and you will see kinks be worked out more and more. I still think Hobbton will be over matched. Dixons offense has been firing and I just dont think Hobbton will be able to keep up.
Dixon 48-35

Clinton v. Wallace
Clinton is seeming to be underwhelming again this year. Watching the Clinton Midway game last week there is no doubt the QB1 for CHS is a good player but he couldn't make it at rolesville for a reason, he doesnt do well with pressure, unfortunately for him he could not bring some OL with him from the bigger schools. I think with wallace being somewhat down this year this game is more predicated on coaching rather than players and coach boykin at chs has yet to show he can defend a power run team. Clinton has looked less confused as last season but still confused. The gameplan for wallace should be simple but i just dont know if it will be based on track record. I also do not think they will be able to hit the busted plays they did against midway. If 15 is back that will definitely help clinton.
Wallace 50-24.

Lakewood v Midway
Coming off facing practically a middle school squad in camp lejeune LHS should be healthy and have had enough time between this week and last week to prepare for midway. Looking at them both I just worry if lakewood will keep up with having a youthful roster with multiple starters going both ways, including the QB?!?! Think if lakewood can control the ball and tempo offensively this can be a tight game for the most part. Think lakewoods crowd is tough and gritty. with that being said give me midway pulling away in the mid 3rd quarter.
Midway 44-28

Well the WRH vs Clinton score was closer then the pundits expected final 22-18.

Clinton’s coaching leaves much to be desired. Refusing to adjust when Wallace went to that unbalanced Wildcat look. Bold move. Horses have some nice pieces but if coaches refuse to make in game adjustments when needed they will continue to lose close games like this.

freshman WR Zaire Strickland had a big splash play for TD last night. I raved about the kid coming out of middle school he is only going to get better definitely a bright spot for the Horses.

I don't understand the decision making of clintons staff. They seem really stubborn honestly on both sides and just stick to their guns. Against teams that aren't very good or poorly coached you can get away with this. Opposing teams who have a staff that is capable of making changes will take advantage of Clinton all year if these coaches don't wake up. Maybe its a pride thing? Come in with a gameplan and refuse to step away from that plan.

Hobbton still hasn't won but they are really impressing me with the weekly improvement.

This team is good enough to win. We have great assistant coaches but they can only do what they are allowed to do. I hope the higher ups are paying attention.

Our community is very embarrassed by the downward spiral this program is headed.
hate to hear that such a historic program as Clinton seems to be heading in this direction. I have not really been following you guys, I knew last year was rough, but ALL programs have those years at some point.

For the coach to be a defensive guy can’t seem to figure out how to stop the run. Which in these parts if you can’t stop the run you might aswell hang it up.

the last two weeks-

wesley tew(Midway)-231 yards
Bubba Lamb(Wallace)-278 yards

I’ll bet money Daschon Campbell for East Bladen is a shoe in for atleast 100+ tomorrow night.

I have ZERO faith in Clinton coaches ability to adjust in game and put their players in position to make plays.

begging Coach Sawvel to come out of retirement just to call the defense is their best bet
