Lanier was from TN and we had zero chance getting him. Knecht and now Lanier, TN will be in line for another sharp shooter out of the portal. Knecht is helping TN recruit.

Honestly I’m getting kind of over some of it. The trolls are way over the top in overdrive. I have no idea how some people spend all their time on these boards talking about a program they no longer support
It seems like we have a ton of fans who are dreamers and have zero basketball knowledge of what it takes to win, We have fans that think we are final four material. I wish we were but anyone with a basketball heartbeat knows this is not posible. UCLA just learned what a SEC defense looks like. If we had Tennessee's defense we could win the championship.
Who have you specifically heard saying we have elite defense? I must have missed those posts
I want to win badly tomorrow but I also understand we have a roster held together by duct tape and that Illinois is a terrible matchup for us

I did not say we had an elite defense. Actually i said if we had TN's defense we could win the championship. Our lack of an elite defense is why we will not advance to the elite eight and maybe not to the sweet 16. Our biggest issue this year has been the lack of a good defense. I have not heard anything from anyone that thought we had even an average defense.
Just being honest, we can win tomorrow but I just don’t see it. I think we are running into a buzzsaw tomorrow. They are starting to click and have a damn home game. I think it could get ugly tomorrow

They are losing a lot and don't have much coming in terms of recruits. This seems like it might be the last run as an elite team for UT for a while barring signing multiple high quality players in the portal.

If the NCAA passes the 5th year, then most of UT's team can return. Ziegler already said he'd return for year 5 if they pass it. Okpara can return. So can Milicic.
If they get those 3 back, they are automatically a contender. You know they would get a few transfers as well.
