Ridgeview @ Giles is Friday at 7. Gretna @ Union is Friday at 7:30. Haven't seen any other 2A West times.
I'm surprised that Gretna @ Union is Friday. Google has that as more than 4 hour drive. Gretna team would probably have to leave school no later than 11am just to get there in enough time to prep for the game.

I was very surprised as well. But when it's that long, they got to choose. Gretna must want to play the game on Friday. Odd call, though. Long drive home.
Not a big deal apparently with those involved at the school/team level, though a big hassle for parents and fans that work. Last year Nandua came to Clarke on a Friday, and this year Arcadia is doing the same. Both are probably more than 4 hours by bus.
Could just as bad for Amelia. May not be as many miles, but to deal with that northern VA traffic can be just as brutal on a Friday afternoon. Only advance from friends in the area is to start early and good luck. But I look forward to seeing an opponent we've never faced before.
George Mason is not the best place to drive to on a Friday evening as its right next to I-66 and close to the Beltway. They have a nice artificial turf field though, and plenty of places to eat in the area around the school. If you aren't familiar with the area, get there before 5pm if possible, eat and then enjoy the game. Traffic can be brutal after 5pm (and usually before 5 also).

Is there a VHSL rule that says you have to play on Saturday during the day? Can you play at 7 PM on Saturday? Hunting season hurts Appomattox fan base during playoffs.

LITERALLY, the ONLY thing that the VHSL says to the regions is "Send us two teams for the state semifinals on December 5th".
They could play at midnight if they wanted.
You can play whenever on a Saturday, but most teams pick an afternoon start. The whole reason of not playing on a Saturday is the travel back and getting back home at 1 and 2am. Or at least that's what it seems to me.
Okay, cool, thanks for feedback. I know Appomattox was trying to make it later on Saturday due to all the hunting in our area. Many people will miss out on this weeks game due to trying to get that BIG BUCK! I think Lee County declined. I think we shot for 7 on Friday as well, but they did not want that either. DONT QUOTE ME, all that is hearsay...
I can't say I blame them much. For them to make it to Appo for a 7pm Friday game, they would have to leave Ben Hurr by 10 or 11 am. It's a 5 hour drive by car. By school bus that would be at least 6 1/2 and I'd say a charter wouldn't be much quicker on those back roads out of Janesville. Hate that it will effect the gate though.

I totally agree with greg....rags was the same way....Friday night lights are the best way to watch high school football
