Saturday halftime

I realize many of you are scattered all over the nation, but if you had been there you would have been impressed my the Alcorn State Band. They were a small group, but they played the sh*t out of their instruments. They beat their drums. They were excellent and they received a standing ovation from our home stands.

I am not a FMB hater. Our kids do a great job, but they were the second best band at the game Saturday in Starkville

From the brief glimpse of the Alcorn band we saw on TV, pretty sure we've seen very similar in the Augusta Christmas parade. A whole lot of fries to go with the shake.

First time watching a SWAC marching band?

I thought our band did just fine. Personally, I have 0 problem with our band having a summer uniform, as long as it’s uniform across the group. They were all uniform this weekend.

Them being in summer unis made sense this weekend. After all, it wasn’t going to be a widely watched game no matter how you slice it. It was also warmer than the previous weekend. Again, summer uniforms made total sense. My only beef with last weekend was the simple combo of the cool weather, night game, game hype, and a team that we don’t regularly play. No harm, no foul though.

Alcorn State’s band was great, but it’s probably a big deal for them playing in an SEC stadium. Of course we are going to get their best… and they did really well.

They were pretty good. They're no Sonic Boom but they did a great job.

Well when the marching band becomes more important than the football team then State can join the SWAC.

Never been to a SWAC game? Most people do not get to experience the treasures that are the SWAC and MEAC bands. The band competition they put on every year is amazing.

I'm all for having one SWAC team play us in Starkvegas every year. Only contract requirement would be they have to bring their whole band and given enough time at half for their best show.

When State played Jackson St no one got up at halftime to leave to go to concessions so they could watch the band. They got a standing ovation.

Seem to remember them playing in Starkville many years ago. And yes, they were impressive.
