they are a legitimate mid-level SEC team. They are not a top 5 SEC team. SC ran over them. Arkansas threw all over them. Without Green, their offense is decent, but not intimidating.

We have got to find a way. We have to. Perfect game for my return to Scott Field

1 of first 3 SEC games, especially since 2 of those games are at home. Assuming we win the rest of our non-conference games, we need to beat 2 SEC teams to make a bowl game, or 3 SEC teams to have a respectable 7-5 season with a tough schedule.

I know we all see the need for more runs BUT...........
We HAVE got to be able to throw against the higher level competition to win. The higher level competition lines up similar to the NFL imo. The better teams often average the highest yards per attempt. Our defense, though strong, is not good enough to nullify this requirement. Another stat some misguided NFL stats guys try to use is rush attempts plus completions, however this is misleading as good teams are ahead at the end of the game and are running to protect the lead thus the often high completion number (because they completed passes to get the lead) and high rush attempts (because they are now protecting that lead).

We have a team full of pussies who can't light a fire under their own *** and knocks some dicks in the dirt. I haven't seen onebig crowd wooo hit all season. Give 'em all a box of tampons and let's call it a season.

makes me think strength coach a little bit. Since we are getting pushed around evidently. And lack of talent of course. If it is lack of heart I am surprised.

the effort is there, so I don't think it's heart or effort. But they do need to step it up a notch and get someone to kind of push them on the field with their play and maybe a vocal leader as well.

We have a lot of freshmen and sophomore that we are relying on to make plays for us. Like Tyler Russell. We should not have to count on him so much at this point in his career. You look at the o-line, Gabe Jackson and Tobias Smith play a lot, and Quentin Saulsberry should not have allowed those two to beat him out. And then JC Brignone has played horribly this year. He and Sherrod are the seniors. The center needs to be the leader. You look at the skill guys that we count on- Chad Bumphis, Arceto Clark, LaDarius Perkins, and Brandon Heavens are all freshmen or sophomores. Look at the defense- Fletcher Cox and Josh Boyd are sophomores, Cameron Lawrence is having to play a lot at LB, and then we have Whitley, Broomfield, and Banks who are all sophomores or younger in our secondary.

I would be willing to bet that we play more freshmen and sophomores than anyone else in the SEC. But what has to happen is the few seniors that we have- the KJ Wright's and Chris White's, and the veterans like Relf, and Marcus Green when he is healthy and Chales Mitchell HAVE to step up and lead these guys. I have not seen that this year.

I think Fla plays something like 12 Freshman...but your point is valid in that the core of that team is young. We are definitely on the rise, and it's frustrating to go through days like we have the last 2 weeks. But this Saturday provides another chance to step up, to make a statement that yes you mf'ers- we are getting better and we will challenge you in the SEC. We have got to take that step eventually.

Somebody has got to step up. I agree with that as well. Coaches can help that happen as well. Give Ballard 20 carries and see if he can take on that role. Stay on Ralph to get the job done and dont have him looking over his shoulder. These are just 2 examples.

I've got high hopes for this Saturday and I know others do too...we'll see how it goes

at worst, he has a nose for the end zone- he has 4 TD's already. He has looked better each week to me, and was one of our better if not best player this past week on offense. Maybe playing a defense that isn't quite as stout is what he needs to break out.

A lot of young guys each looking to each other to make a big play. I expected a little more out of Bumphis, maybe too much.

it isn't Tyson Lee's leadership we miss? Let's not get into a debate about how much better an athlete and a player Dixon is than Lee...but Lee was the one making all the calls and checks- quite well I might add- offensively...Lee was a very good passer from 0-20 yards...

I think your question is a ******** question- none of us know who did what....who's to say we aren't missing the lineman we lost last year on offense more than anyone? You just dont know

I dont think this is the answer for the rest of the season, but after watching the USC/UGA game, the UGA D has some real issues tackling. Granted they were going up against Lattimore, but I think Relf could have a simliar effect.

If we turn the ball over less than 2 times we win. It's that simple to me.

I think Diaz should be able to dial up some blitzes to really confuse their freshman QB.

<span>if you can't admit that Dixon was the clear leader on our offense last year then i don't know what else to say.? doing it doesn't hurt your "we won't miss dixon" argument that much because you have primarily based that on yardage and not the intangibles.? the question isn't ******** and you know it.? for 17's sake, you just said yourself that we need someone to step up.? so how can it be ******** for anyone to think we might miss the best player on the team, leading SEC rusher, breaker of multiple records for the school, electrifying, hard nosed starting tailback??

sure...the players didn't rally around this guy

and to top it off, arguably the best game we had last year was against OM and Lee was a non-factor in it yet Dixon was right there whipping that *** with Relf.

no one on our team has swagger and?confidence like that?this year and admitting that dixon's swagger was contagious and was a factor in his leadership isn't going to kill you.?

Two of the TD's were just glaring mistakes in coverage. They are still learning the defense and don't have the players for the 3-4. They will try to take away the run, I think Tyler could have a good day against them.

Mallet was 21/33 for 380 yards and 3 TD's- how the f@ck is that not throwing all over them?

SC gashed them on the ground- should we just forget that? What happens when they blitz Russell constantly sacking him 3-4 times and force 3 interceptions? It's not like our OL is going to keep them off him and our WR's will create alot of separation...

are two different animals...ask Joe Montana and Ryan Leaf about that- Montana didnt have half the arm Leaf did...

The OL isn't playing as well, yet nobody mentions Craig Jenkins...why is that? He is the only piece missing from last season...wonder if it was because we didnt have any "we won't miss Jenkins" threads...

if you can't see the intangibles that Dixon brought to our offense, other than just his production, then you are completely lost. i'll start a poll just for you here shortly.

Tiny Tyson's leadership? Correct calls and checks? Very good passer? What are you smoking?

I had wondered that too. Lee's inability to see down field, especially over the middle drove me nuts. But otherwise, he had a very good command of the offense and barked out instructions a lot. He made those checks, audibles, and generally made things flow pretty well.

That is another glaring intangible this team does not have. Every year, LSU is more physical than us. So, that was no surprise. However, I thought it was obvious in the AU game too. When a fat *** OL can peal back and de-cleat your DE, you have issues. Then obviously, AU's DL took it to our OL all night. Then both games Relf gets banged up. Hell, he got Zack Smithed on a glancing blow in the LSU game.

I am not saying the jury has a verdict on Mullen. However, I have always thought State was at its best when we played ball control, field position, and physical football. We have NEVER been able to do much as a finesse team. I am afraid our focus has been to much on finesse ....at least on offense. Which I imagine stems from losing Dixon and having nobody to fill those shoes.
