Games. Do they not have some way to interact with the fans? Like give away things in the 4th qtr or something like that. Have something for after the game. Give tickets away, give students some scholarship money. Doesn't have to be much, just do it in 4th qtr or right after the game. You guys give me some opinions.

I am not

sure anything other than a close game against a top 25 team in the 4th Q will change students leaving.

Yeah, I mean there's no real reason to stay in the 4th Q if we're up by 30+.

It was the same when we were losing by 30+.

Why would students stay in the 4th quarter to see us ontinue demolish the likes of Alcorn, Troy, etc? Seriously every game that's close the students stay the entire game. I'd be more concerned about the blue hairs and lazy asses that don't want to stand and cheer. imho iyam

Most of them have consumed their stash of smuggled alcohol by the end of the 3rd quarter and have come to the realization that the cute freshmens coed they brought to the game is handling her liquor better than they thought so it's off to the old tailgate to pour some more panty lubricant down her throat.

Winner winner... There wasn't a game last year with the exception of the ole miss game that students stayed. I think I even remember an exodus (on a smaller scale) of the Alabama game which was actually a close one.

Yeah but I was thinking if picking a seat during 4th qtr and giving things away like maybe tickets or whatever. Something that will entice people to stay in order to see if they won something. Maybe give students a little money towards school and give fans free shirts or tickets. There's plenty of things that could get folks to stay at games. I'd like to see them try it a few games and see if it makes a difference.

They did some things during basketball, one of which was give away an iPad I think. Not sure if it had any effect.

Latter part of last season, I think Saban said it best

At least regarding the student section clearing out.

...We are going to see to it that you don't get tickets,(or something like that)....

But Bama seems to be in another world.

So I'm supposed to believe you were at the Alcorn game and stayed until the end of the 4th? Same with Troy?

Bud I love football and yeah I stay till the very end. If I pay my hard earned to buy a ticket I'm gonna get every bit of it. Heck I hang around after the game

We could always threaten to make the student section smaller if they start leaving early. Could have some people scanning i.d's on the way out. If you stay the whole game you could be eligible for some type of reward. If you leave more than half of the games early you don't get the right to purchase tickets for the next season

** You only get moral credit if you stayed until the bitter end of Croom debacles in the rain. Which I did.

Seriously, props to those who stay to the end of blowouts either way. I usually do--though there have been exceptions (usually having to do with working Sunday mornings and living 5 hours away). I've griped about students leaving early, but it seems more and more that the early departure problem is at virtually every school in the country.

If the SEC wants to keep more students (or fans) at the game, they're going to have to get rid of CBS's no-compete clause between 3-6 PM. From 11:30 on, there should be a game starting every hour and a half.

As of this year, CBS no longer has the 2:30 - 6:00 time slot exclusively. There will be afternoon games on SECN and on the ESPN networks.
