We will see how serious the boosters really are about winning in football.
Could we keep Stoops on as DC?

Im here in GA. Look for Kirby Smart. And as many of you have already said, take Richt in a heart beat. And Barny would love him as Richt is very religious. A real SEC school will fire a coach that is 8-4 or even 9-3. Richt can get the players and he knows what real footbll players look like.

Do we really have enough passionate big money fball boosters to foot $10m toward a buyout? I don't think so.

Kirby Smart is good, but I'm a bit baffled why you fire Richt for an unknown at the HC-ing position.

Mark Stoops is and will be the head coach next year!

If you don't like it, find another team to support and don't be 'that' guy - which we seem to have a lot of right now.
Yes he will be our coach but he's going to have to do some good things next year in order for the fans to stay around.

Despite rumors from disgruntled JawJaw fans for years, I am stunned. He averaged 9.7 wins/yr and had a 74% win percentage. I know there comes a time when you "have done all you can do" but he set a pretty high bar.

Well, this is a school that at one time was actually paying 3 HCs.

Peace

Even if there were a opening here, why would Richt want to come to this dumpster fire? Heck of a lot better opportunities available then Kentucky.

True------maybe. Money has always been mitch's first concern, not sure what happened with the recent contracts.

I'm not sure if there is any chance that Richt would take a job as OC or DC, in fact I dono't even remember his specialty. He was head coach so long he might not either, LOL

In any case, forget it, ain't happening.

I wonder if Miami will go after Richt. I think he would do very well there. Easier conference, in the weak division with no FSU and Clemson (and of course no mighty UL lol) so he could get to the ACC Title game most years fairly easily if he recruits as well as he usually does and coaches them up.

Makes ZERO difference what he does the only thing mandatory is for the team AND THE STAFF to look like they know what the hell they are doing and WIN...

It's what real SEC programs do.
If that's true, then the only two coaches to be back next year are Saban and McElwain. Only two in the SEC to win more games than Richt.
So yeah, why don't we fire them all but those two?

I think Mullens would do a hell of a job at Georgia.
I would love to see this. Make Mississippi state weaker team we can beat more often.

And it makes sense for him. Get out of the east to improve sec championship odds. Huge talent base for national championship aspirations. I believe he's not a Foley fan either and would get to act on that as well.

Not everybody was meant to coach upper echelon programs. I think he's one.

Richt is a hell of a coach. Vastly under rated in my opinion because of all the slack he gets for always losing the SEC championship. Never mind that he always has his team in place to be there. Still Richt isn't the same coach he was a few years ago. Nowadays he comes across as distracted. He looks like someone that wants to do other things with his life right now rather than win championships. I'm not convinced he has the drive necessary to take on the task here.

If Kirby goes to UGA, I wouldn't be shocked if Pruitt came back to Bama as the DC.

To be honest about all of this I am a little surprised Richt was fired. I understand he hasn't won a NC, but he has won a lot of games in Athens and whoever we hire more than likely won't win 9 in 16. Our AD is awful, of course our fans call out names we have zero chance of getting like Chip Kelly, Gary Patterson, David Shaw, then there is the next group of Herman, Smart and Mullen. The AD has connections to Mullen and is probably who he wants, but if he hires him and we don't win 10 games next year, not happening, the AD would be out, none of the fans want Mullen. Smart is a top favorite on the list who might come, I don't know what kind of relationship Smart and Pruitt had, but word we get is Pruitt and Saban didn't get alone at all, no idea if true or not and you would certainly know more about that than me. I think SoCarolina on the verge of hiring Kirby sped up this process by a couple of years. Hiring Shotnheimer or ever how its spelled has turned out to be a disaster, worst offense I have seen in Athens since the Goff years, 7 offensive TDs in last 6 games, 10 in the last 8.

Read else where Mark Ricth UGA record: 145-51, 2 SEC championships, 7 top 10 finishes, 9 seasons with 10 wins. Apparently some discontent among Bulldogs staff especially defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt.
Still have friends (like me older generation) from Georgia that are Richt fans and did not want him gone. Same folks want Kirby Smart now!
If Kirby takes the job I wonder if that was cut and dried a while back.?
Grumpy, your opinions and thoughts? Do you think Mark will end up at Miami?
