We need someone who wins unconventionally.

Whether that's FCS or whatever. We need to hire an army of nerds to crunch numbers to develop some algorithm to determine who that might be.

So I'm not on the Richt wagon.

I'd take Mullen over Smart if I'm Georgia.

Not me, if our AD forces him on us he will be the next one to go. I rather have Grantham as head coach and you know how I feel about him than Mullen. And thats the overwhelming feeling of UGA fans. If we had Dak we would be playing Bama in the SEC championship game.

Read else where Mark Ricth UGA record: 145-51, 2 SEC championships, 7 top 10 finishes, 9 seasons with 10 wins. Apparently some discontent among Bulldogs staff especially defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt.
Still have friends (like me older generation) from Georgia that are Richt fans and did not want him gone. Same folks want Kirby Smart now!
If Kirby takes the job I wonder if that was cut and dried a while back.?
Grumpy, your opinions and thoughts?

Kirby has been a popular name for awhile. From all the rumors swirling around he was about to take the USC job, so I think that may have been what put todays action in motion or fast forwarded it at least. Some rumors he will be announced tomorrow, but Richt is supposely going to coach the bowl game. I don't know what kind of head coach Kirby will be, who he can hire for the staff, but if it is Kirby, he will be a stronger recruiter than anyone on our staff. I am guessing the 16 class is going to fall apart with this, very likely to lose over half of them, maybe more if Pruitt is gone too. I don't know if Pruitt and Smart get alone or not. I wasn't all in on firing Richt, if its Kirby I am fine with the hire, if its Mullen I will be sick.

True------maybe. Money has always been mitch's first concern, not sure what happened with the recent contracts.

I'm not sure if there is any chance that Richt would take a job as OC or DC, in fact I dono't even remember his specialty. He was head coach so long he might not either, LOL

In any case, forget it, ain't happening.

Richt was the OC at FSU when UGA hired him.

Mullen would be awesome at UGA imo. He would own the state of Georgia in recruiting.

I wouldn't be surprised if Richt isn't already interviewing this afternoon with some schools. Imagine his phone was blowing up with inquiries before he walked out of the AD's office there in Athens.

Mark Stoops is and will be the head coach next year!

If you don't like it, find another team to support and don't be 'that' guy - which we seem to have a lot of right now.
You find another team ,I have been a UK Football fan most likely longer the you have been alive and i'm done with Stoops !! Did you say the same thing about Joker ?

To be honest about all of this I am a little surprised Richt was fired. I understand he hasn't won a NC, but he has won a lot of games in Athens and whoever we hire more than likely won't win 9 in 16. Our AD is awful, of course our fans call out names we have zero chance of getting like Chip Kelly, Gary Patterson, David Shaw, then there is the next group of Herman, Smart and Mullen. The AD has connections to Mullen and is probably who he wants, but if he hires him and we don't win 10 games next year, not happening, the AD would be out, none of the fans want Mullen. Smart is a top favorite on the list who might come, I don't know what kind of relationship Smart and Pruitt had, but word we get is Pruitt and Saban didn't get alone at all, no idea if true or not and you would certainly know more about that than me. I think SoCarolina on the verge of hiring Kirby sped up this process by a couple of years. Hiring Shotnheimer or ever how its spelled has turned out to be a disaster, worst offense I have seen in Athens since the Goff years, 7 offensive TDs in last 6 games, 10 in the last 8.
Used to live in Atlanta, and even though a UK grad and fan, I had season tix to UGA back during the Dooley and Goff years. As you, I'm surprised as well. Something's wrong when a coach, who coaches in the toughest conference in the land, and averages what...8, 9, 10 wins a year gets canned. Doubt if Vince would have made this decision. Wonder what he thinks of it. Is Vince still in Athens?

I think the world of Mark Richt, but don't forget the last time we hired a big time name coach from a big time SEC school. It didn't go so well. He was 10-2 his last year before being fired for not being able to beat his arch rival.

After the Stoops fiasco, I would NEVER support hiring another Coordinator with HC experience, at least not at the P5 level. A HC needs to have a proven record at some level.

I seriously doubt the UK Aminstration will look to you for any advice since you appear to be the type person that expects immediate change after three years as head coach

Also, I've been watching this crap since 1970, so I doubt you have seen much more of this crap than I have

Aside a few good years under Curci and Brooks, this has been normal.

I don't hold **** back! I don't know anyone that holds this program back, but continuous change of coaches is not only a bad thingfor the university but also not good for recruiting

And with the announcement of Towles transferring now, it's a free-for-all

So I guess in a round about way, you are getting your needed change.

I do like the idea of firing the head coach and making him a coordinator. That's genius and not ridiculously stupid at all. Why hasn't anyone ever thought to do that?

Plus, remember Curry really was never accepted at Bama 'cause he wasn't one of Bear's boys. Threats against his wife, vandalism at his home and office....plus, you're right...couldn't beat Auburn. But the deal with his wife was the deal breaker I think. But I don't think Curry ever beat Auburn in his career.

We will see how serious the boosters really are about winning in football.
Could we keep Stoops on as DC?
Good Lord. There is so much delusion in this short post that even Louisville "don't know there place in the food chain" fans are saying "that is delusional"......

Are you not a booster? Why is it a test of someone else? A guy who's won 75% of his games at an SEC power is going to come to UK? WHY? A guy who is currently the head coach is going to accept a demotion and stick around as a coordinator - at UK? WHY?

Richt wouldn't come here.

Nobody worth anything will ever come here. Stoops is our guy... Might as well own it

But let's be honest and say we aren't going to be serious about football. Let's drop the catch phrases, the million uniform combos, the stadium upgrades

Let's just say we suck. We are going to suck. And buying tickets week after week is a great way to see the best football teams in the nation kick us in the teeth. In slower weeks, we will still do our best to make bad teams like Louisville look like the Patriots

I hate the situation, but it's just the reality is this garbage program and staff

Stoops not going anywhere for now. He is as secure as Saban. But, we are looking at the beginning of the end. He is done this time next year.

Southern Cal needs a proven coach with a clean image. I think Richt could have success in LA. I'm really interested to see if Georgia could lure Jimbo away from FSU. As for the coaching situation at UK, we can't afford to do anything other than keep Stoops for the next few years and hope he can improve quickly. I hate that we are financially handcuffed to Stoops, but at least we don't need to speculate about going after other coaches.

I wonder if Miami will go after Richt. I think he would do very well there. Easier conference, in the weak division with no FSU and Clemson (and of course no mighty UL lol) so he could get to the ACC Title game most years fairly easily if he recruits as well as he usually does and coaches them up.

They would be crazy not to, he is an alumn if not mistaken. He could be a big deal for the canes !

Should we give him a call? He's a first class guy who's got experience. Something our program needs badly, the experience I mean.

Booth probably. He was said to want to do mission work in a few years so can't see him starting over.
