Thought SB had it wrapped up when they attempted the game winning 18 yard FG.

But this was just as dramatic an ending...

Where’s that dude who laughed at my question earlier in the season about Stonebridge winning it all. I was assured by his rambling that there was zero shot of that happening.

Congratulations SB Bull Dogs. This was a whale of a game, no doubt! It literally came down to the final play in overtime... Stone Bridge players and coaches, you guys earned this one!! Enjoy the victory, revel in the glory of it for you all have just made life time memories with people that will be your friends for life. I truly am very happy for you all ... but, I think the Springers will be back again, sooner than later!

Thanks Springer76. HS is a threat to win a championship every year. Coach Johnson runs that program like a college program. Organized, disciplined, and loads of talent up and down the roster. Frankly, this little rivalry that is brewing between the Bulldogs and the Springers is superb and is must see football. Today’s game was worth the price of admission.

Jacob Thomas (#2) is an incredible all-around athlete. He led Stone Bridge to the 5A hoops title a few months ago with a stat line of 27/14/7 in the final against Green Run. Stone Bridge had played 8 games leading up to yesterday’s championship game and he had scored 8 non-offensive TD’s in those 8 games. Coach Thompson began to work him in at receiver about 2 games ago knowing he would need to be fresh while also knowing he would likely need him as an extra option against the Springers incredible secondary. His pick and 34 yard return with about 6 minutes left in regulation were huge for Stone Bridge. I’ve watched that play (46 Reach Pass) over & over again and had a great live view of it yesterday as well. Harmon, as expected, was in great position and timed his jump perfectly fine. Billy Wiles (#8 QB) and Thomas somehow pulled it off.

Absolutely! I have a very strong feeling that we will meet again in late fall! In Regional play next season, Varina and Henrico move to Class 4 and Manchester is moving to Class 6. Hermitage seems to be our biggest threat in Regional play... and it appears we "could" be headed for another showdown with Stone Bridge in the State Semifinal!!! How will your team look next season? I strongly believe that HSHS will be just as tough on defense and our offense will be stronger and more explosive! We will see... Congratulations to both HSHS and Stone Bridge on your fantastic seasons!

Stone Bridge will be good next year, however 24 seniors were on that team we saw yesterday, so yes, a number of new faces will suit up in the fall. I may be mistaken but I believe Massaponax comes into our region next year along with a few other new teams so the road to a title is a lot more challenging, particularly with a team like HSHS (or a fellow Henrico school) setting up as a semi-final. The fall season starts today!! Looking forward to a full normal schedule. Best of luck to all of the seniors across the state as they close out their high school lives in the coming months.

HSHS's defense was loaded with Seniors, but the depth and talent on that unit is ridiculous! So the defense is expected to be top notch again. The offense.... Our offensive line is young and return a good core. We have some stud running backs coming up and the Wide Receiver Corps is to notch too. Our back up QB (injured in the Varina game) will be our starter next year, I strongly believe. We do have a younger freshman (JV QB) that is going to be a real good one too. IMO, Nasir (Jr.), he is a much better QB! Scrambling and running, and throwing while on the run... this kid is a dynamic play maker!! HSHS had been using a 2 qb system this year, alternating these 2 in and out. When Nasir went down, it was Dent's time to shine.... his shine was marred by inaccuracies and bad reads. Long story short, in my own opinion, I believe our QB passing, running and reading defenses, will be better next season. Once again, we will see.

Herm will be very good next year. Their 2023 class is a lot like HS’s 2021 class and Varina’s 2020 class. Them and HS will be the big men on campus in 5B for a while.

Ponax doesn’t come into your region but rather 5D with the other Fredericksburg area schools like North, MV, and Riverbend is dropping down with them... so there will likely be plenty of Ponax Stone Bridge Semi final games in the future

I'd like to see these Spring 2021 Stone Bridge vs Ponax teams play!!! - It's too bad Smith could play their scheduled Fall 2020 game vs the Springsers. It would have made the season of revenge complete!!

Ponax and Stone Bridge had some classic games a few years back. I suspect if they played this spring we would have seen another heavy-weight clash. You can give me Ponax, OS, HSHS, and SB every year and you know you are going to see some good football with athletes flying around all over the place.

Congrats to Stone Bridge. The better team surely won. Better offensive scheme. Better talent. Better coaching.
You’re reaching with this post to say the least lol. I saw two evenly matched teams with talent on both sides of the ball. To say SB had more talent is laughable and better coaching? The last play was a lucky jump ball that decided the game. Let’s not act like SB was head and shoulders beating or better than HSHS. Not at all factual.

Why can’t I just give HooSprings his medicine without you injecting facts & logic into the convo? Lol
Well in that case, have at it lol. Definitely a lot of crow being eaten on the East End, with the last play happening on one of there Power 5, zillion star, best player on the best team in the planet. I can’t wait for the fall, I say they run it back!
