every one of their message boards has them coming to starkville and beating us without any effort.

To answer the question, though. Dooley needs, at minimum, 8 wins or the volnation will be calling for his head.

Dooley hit Knoxburg at a horrible point in time. Their rabids have simply not gotten to the grief stage called "resignation," as in being resigned to the reality that it is difficult to recruit [without getting *** raped by the NCAA] to Knoxville, TN, in a manner that is necessary to compete with UF, Bama and LUS. Their wealthy, connected rabids will have to eventually get to that point before they will be patient. Right now, Dooley's orange *** is oranger than those ****** looking sansabelts.

this coming season, that's not going to change. And Tenn is not a top 10 team- they arent winning in Starkville

Last 2 seasons, we have lost at home to #8 SC, National Champion Auburn, UPig, Bama, and LSU

We should be -3 vs Auburn, but I bet it's probably about pick'em at gametime...A&M should be 5-6, I think Vegas got that one right.

Those 3 games for us hold the key to our season and program momentum

largely on IF they can get Patterson eligible and up to speed and IF they can stay 100% healthy. Those 3 receivers on the field at once, along with Bray, and we've got a tough TOUGH task, as does the entire SEC. Way too many State fans are acting like UT fans with the overconfidence about that game.

Early lines are out for us and is about what we expect(4 noncon wins, in conference 2 wins, 2 losses, 4 toss-ups):
Vegas has us at 9-3(5-3)

Auburn at Mississippi State -1.5
Mississippi State -11.5 at Kentucky
Tennessee at Mississippi State -3.5
Mississippi State +18 at Alabama
Texas A&M at Mississippi State -6
Mississippi State +20 at LSU
Arkansas at Mississippi State +1
Mississippi State -7.5 at Ole Miss

"Dooley has to improve or hhe'll be fired."<div>
</div><div>Well, lots of coaches have been in must-win mode before and failed to win. That's not really a reason to think they'll do well.</div><div>
</div><div>ETA: I also think it's crazy that you have Missouri in the etc. section while listing us as a must win. Do you really think winning in Starkville will be easier this year than beating Missouri at home? I honestly don't know a lot about what Missouri has returning, but that seems outrageous.</div>

and one of those wins may very well be against state (we'll miss3 Fg's inside the 25) in a close one. But lose to vandy and/or uk and it's curtains.

Dooley's gone. His players have zero respect for him (which would explain why he loss to UK with and ER QB that knew 4 plays). When a group of players approached dooley about canning da'rick rodgers he basically told em tuff ****. DRhas dooley's nutts and he knows it. Jimmy hymes saysDR basically does whatever he wants at practice and the other kids can't stand it. It would be nice to give hima farewell gift to remember.

They won 3SEC championships and a national championship in the 90's and never got into any major trouble with the NCAA.

Difficult to recruit to Knoxville??? What are you talking about? Difficult for Dooley, maybe.

The bottom line is Dooley wasa horrible hire by an even morehorrible AD. UT has all the resources to be one of the top 15 programs in the country year in and year out. Just ask Phil Fulmer.

I agree Dooley is doomed, but Idon't think it has anythingto do with UT being a difficult situation or their boosters being impatient.

at least offensively. They've got the best WR in the SEC in Hunter plus Patterson (and Jason Croom - remember him?), one of the best QBs, and it'll be their entire OL's 3rd straight year of starting together.

If they can stay healthy, they'll be able to score points. I'm not saying they're win in Starkville, but I think they'll win 7-9 games. </p>

His biggest win in his career was over Sly Crxxm. That pretty much says it all right there.

I don't see any reason why that will change this year. With our D at home. State wins. Ut aint one of the games Im worried about this season.

It is now harder to recruit nationally to Tennessee. Emphasis on "now." The decline was happening before Fulmer got shitcanned and it has steadily gotten more difficult. Kiffen hauled *** outta there for more reasons than simply wearing out his welcome. He saw what was happening.

Kiffin hauled *** for the only job in America he would leave UT for after only one year. Not saying LK would have hung around for ten years, but his corrupt crootin was pulling in a pretty good crop of talent...they damn near beat #1 ranked Bama in Tusc that year.

Also, lets not forget receiver Da'Rick Rogers...UT should be able to score...however I dont see Dooley surviving. UT boosters will do what Bama boosters did when they became sick of losing....open up the checkbook and hire a known winner. No clue who that will be however.

Tyler Bray is overrated, UT thinks he's an elite QB and when they realize he's not they will be looking at another 5-6 win season. The problem is who are they going to hire? Bobby Petrino? Nah too soon. Peyton Manning? Nope he's locked up in Denver. Phil Fulmer? Nope. Dan Mullen? How could the mighty UT hire from lowly MSU, no way. UT is forever 17ed right now until they sack up and pay top dollar. They need to find whoever the next Saban is and pay him whatever it takes to get them right. The problem is nobody knows who that is and anyone as good as Saban is isn't leaving the NFL anytime soon or already has a top college job. UT is 17ed and I'm loving every second of their misery.

so while the offense has some weapons, the rush defense is a major liability. You can't win if you can't stop the run.We should be better than them...emphasis on should.

They've got the best receivers in the SEC. Etc., etc. I'm not sure where this is coming from. They scored 7 points or less in 5 of their 8 SEC games last year (and only scored 12 in another game). They're just not as good as they're "supposed" to be.

Ut's probs are bigger than that....they allowed 217 total yards and 10 pts to UK and still lost.

are Auburn, A&M, TN, and Arkansas.

In order of hardest to easiest for us to win:
Arkansas
Tennessee
Auburn
A&M

TN is not going to be a slouch this year like they were last year. Frankly, if I were them, I'd have a hard time envisioning a TN loss to MSU as well. We are going to have to play great to beat them. They are going to surprise some folks this year. It's not that Dooley is a great coach, they just have a lot of experienced talent on the roster this year.

Bray was out almost all season last year and Justin Hunter WAS out the entire SEC season. 2 of their 3 primary weapons were out(both first round talents).

You can spew stats from last season all you want to... They have a first round qb and 2 first round receivers, with a third trying to get thru the clearinghouse now. You can look at any mock draft to confirm it...

It's hilarious that the most anti-homer baseball fan we've got can throw on maroon-colored blinders at the first mention of football!

do you actually believe that a soft rushing defense (below top 50) is represented in good teams (top 25). Maybe every once in a while, but I bet its less than 5%.

And look how good Arky was with a better rush defense in 2011....top 5 team.

MSU has home field advantage and is coming off trip to KY; UT is off week before this game.

State could come into this game at 6-0 (J St, Aub, Troy, S Ala & KY) while UT has played NC St, Ga St, Fla, Akron and Georgia. (Ouch)
