Anybody know if the scoreboard is going to be ready by the weekend? I would assume no judging by the picture I saw a couple weeks ago. But, on the other hand, I didn't go to the game Saturday night, so I have no clue as to what kind of progress we are making. For some reason I recall the KY game as being the goal for completion.

Pictures or updates, anyone?

Supposedly 7 or so tractor trailer trucks left CA last week bringing the screens that will make up the board. They are supposed to put them up and have them connected to control room by Thursday. Maybe they won't have all functions available by Saturday but sounds like with good weather this week we will see something on Croomzilla this weekend.</p>

The entire new jumbotron is already here and is currently being stored in the Cooley building. I heard they will be lucky to have the construction finished by the last game. Even if they finish the construction there is no way it will be operational this season.

They had the side panels and lower panel installed at the MTSU game. Word on the street was that the main screen area would be installed this week and would be functional by Saturday.

games this season (or heck if even for one game), then it appears to have been a lot of inconvenience to put the thing up during the season. Would seemingly have been much easier to have just had it up in time for next season rather than having construction crews working around the football schedule.

I think the big mistake was banking on perfect conditions from the mobilization to completion. As anyone who has ever been around big construction projects knows, perfect conditions rarely happen. The extended period of rain from the tropical systems really killed the original schedule. If the usual late summer/early fall weather pattern would have happened the board would have been operational for homecoming. Regardless, we'll get to use the thing for two games and should look and sound good.

I forgot to take a picture this weekend, so I just used paint on the last picture I took. This is what the board looked like at MTSU.

Ran into some of the construction workers when grabbing a bite to eat last night. He said the video board would be operational in four days and ready for sat. But completion of entire structure wouldn't be until december or january. Sounded like he knew what he was talking about but who knows.

Did anyone notice that the old jumbotron had black blocks in it? I don't know if I just noticed it this weekend or if they have always been there, but two little rectangular sections of the screen were blacked out. It looked pretty bad.

during games pull out those squares and put them back in. Sometimes they were obviously replacing sections that had bad lights, but sometimes, I suspect, they popped them out to watch the game.
