Another goalline stand...bc we didnt give spencer murphy the ball up the middle. Game is pretty much over.

We wouldnt have necessarily scored with spencer...but spencer should be our short yardage back...in my opinion. At least give him the ball up the middle once out of 4 downs.

Change in Qb has made a big difference in our offense. Our Usual starting Qb is going to be good he just needs to put on some weight over the off season. Our new QB is stronger and faster and adds a different dimension to our team. We probably didn’t throw but 4 times all night. Didn’t need to.
what grade is new QB?

Senior. He should have been running the ball the last two seasons. He has speed and runs hard. In the last two seasons he has probably returned 5 kickoffs for TD’s. I hope this win will be enough to get them in the playoffs just to give the kids a taste of what it’s like. Something to build on

Andrews 34 Hayesville 14 Final.
Hayesville scores late in 4th against the subs

Good win for the cats they played well. You mentioned that Jackets scored on subs, so did Andrews. 4 of 5 of HHS’s best DBs were out as well as 2 out of 3 starting LB. Without Cook at QB McClure got his first varsity start at QB and greatly reduced the versatility of the offense. No excuses we got beat.

I would like to commend Hayesville’s coaching staff. In 40 years of watching SMC football I don’t know if I have ever seen a team as devastated with injuries. They have done a good job splicing together lineups and finding new wrinkles to try to keep this group in games.

In the long run the program will benefit from the experience the players are getting, many at multiple positions.

No you have a point. Any small 1A school with that many injuries is a death sentence. I have read all about the injuries this season but thought that a lot were back last week and this. I guess both teams had a lot of sophomores playing last night

With Hayesville having that many injuries something isn't right. Either coaching techniques or strength and conditioning program is WAY below subpar.

At first glance that might seem to be the case but when you take a deeper look it does not really hold true. We had a couple of broken collar bones and a couple of shoulder separations due to contact with the ground followed by being landed on by big linemen. A couple of knee injuries that were before football, hoped that would improve and they did but only marginally. Add in some ankle sprains one in pe, one in a soccer game. Also a couple of groin injuries and 2 concussions. Also this is the same staff and techniques that have been in place for the last few years with no problems such as these. Several injuries to younger players who are just starting to fill out. Some times just plain bad luck.
