I was watching a livestream of Smoky & Swain but it died at halftime. The Maroon Devil Network is audio only and it’s messed up too, anyone got an update on the score?

Must be nice to have that monkey off y’alls back, well done!
Good win for sure, great response in the 2nd half. Tonight was a much needed win to start out on the right foot because Heard County is legit and it will be a very tall task for Murphy to go down there and keep it close next week.
Heard will likely be better than any team Murphy is going to see in the 2A west, so it's a good measuring stick game next week no doubt.
That definitely bodes well for y’all considering how Murphy seems to start slow most years. Good luck with Heard County, I hope y’all pull out the win.

I didn’t get to watch most of the game due to the issues I posted above but I did learn that Smoky scored at the end of the game. That said it appears that this seasons iteration of Swain might be stout on defense, which is nice. What this says about Smoky only time will tell.

Murphy looked like the better conditioned team in 4th but I also think Murphy had all the momentum and energy by that stage of the game as well.
For the first time in a while, I felt Murphy had the advantage over Franklin on the lines. Other than the off sides and false start penalties, they were clearly superior. The offensive line's pass protection may have been the best I've seen in 20 years.
Another huge surprise was the performance of sophomore Davis. His vision is excellent and his patience in following his blockers was amazing for a young back. He really reminds me of Chris Edwards who played at Murphy back around 2010.
Another big positive was Grant's play at QB. He was accurate, but more importantly he was patient and confident. He stayed in the pocket instead of bailing at the first hint of pressure.
All-in-all, a good performance considering how tough an opponent they had for game #1. You can just tell these kids have been coached up and conditioned well this summer.

Good Post…. However Wilkes Central won 34-23. They were down 23-0 at the half and scored 34 unanswered points in the second half.
If that is true…Wilkes Central needs to report it to Max Preps…Max Preps has North Iredell winning the game exactly as you say with a huge comeback in the 2nd half.
Wilkes Central won 34 to 23. The NFHSNetwork tallied the score wrong. NFHSNetwork had the scoreboard reversed and was giving North Iredell’s scores to Wilkes Central and Wilkes Central’s scores to North Iredell.
