From Saturday:
#2 LSU lost at home to BYU 9-4
#6 UCLA lost to Baylor 5-0
#17 lost AGAIN to Florida Gulf Coast 8-3. They are now 3-4 on the season.
#20 Georgia Tech lost 1 of 2 in a doubleheader yesterday to St. John's.

From Friday:
#5 Oregon lost to Loyola Marymount 7-2.
#17 Florida lost to Florida Gulf Coast 8-2.

Except for Florida, all of these are teams that are ranked ahead of us in at least one poll. A win today should really look favorable for us to move up in the polls. If we move up Monday, it will most likely be because we played 4 games in 3 days against some quality opponents and won every game. Not many teams within our reach in the polls have lost, so we will have to move up based on what we've done. I posed the question Friday about how many thought we would sweep this weekend. Don't think anyone thought we would. A win today should make a lot of us feel pretty good about this team.

Good info. Agree that a sweep would be a bit of a surprise, but I feel good about this team no matter what happens this afternoon. Pitching should be dominant and hitting should be a little better than last year. I think we break the regional host drought and have a decent chance of going to Omaha.

Go back and check again. I went on record as being in the minority, but thinking we'd go 4-0. I hope I was right.

We have a brutal SEC schedule- we dont play Missouri, Georgia, or Tennessee- and we play @Kentucky, @UPig, @Vandy, and @Ole Missus

If we end up hosting, we will have done a helluva job this year

Baseball polls (regardless of which one) don't really matter, particularly early in the season. Having typed that, it's still good to see us ranked. Does any of this make sense.

Yes we do. And there's no excuse for the SEC to give us that schedule. It would be one thing if that was just the way the rotation worked out this year, but in the 1st year of a new schedule there's no excuse to make anyone's schedule that unbalanced. We could easily lose the division to a team that we're 3 games better than against common opponents.

However, it gives us a better SOS, and assuming we don't tank the games, a better RPI. That could be key in determining whether or not we get a national seed.

At the very least, Missouri and Tennessee could end up with triple-digit RPIs, but we have a 0% chance of adding a loss to them.
