Reynolds isn't good, 4 Murphy turnovers prevented them from being up by 2-3 TD's at half. Now that #5 is out looks like Reynolds is going to end up winning this one, extremely frustrating game to watch

It was far from David and Goliath, friend. Swain has a heck of a squad, If they can get out of their own way they will make some noise.
Considering Heritage beat Robbinsville by 30 and beat Pisgah like a drum (who beat Swain) it's pretty shocking
I wouldn't consider us goliath cause we are smaller than most teams we play lol

I meant more-so from an eye test perspective, perception was far from reality tonight.
Definitely a combination of both, Swain is stout and a run heavy team like Heritage plays more into their strength. How the rest of the season goes who knows at this point.
I wouldn’t say anything like that till the end of the season, this was a 1-10 team a year ago lol.
I didn't know how they have done this year until looking. Certainly looks like they are much improved if anything and could win 4 or 5 more games.
Dont get me wrong, I respect Swain as a program. They must have had a great defensive gameplan tonight. Nobody in the SMC looks unbeatable, Swain might finish top 2
I remember early in the year when I posted Heritages schedule you said this would be a close game but didn't say anything about robbinsville and I said after Swains last season if this game was close Robbinsville would at least be a 50/50 game guess the jokes on me now lol
I get it for sure, I too was shocked at how well Swain matched up.
It looked like Swain was in the film room this week because they did a good job not biting on the counters and reverses. I’d also say Heritage took swain lightly, they were visibly very agitated from the jump and had several personal fouls throughout the game. The coaches from Heritage also didn’t keep their cool, one had to be stopped from fighting what looked like a teenager on the sideline in the first half, not a good look and definitely didn’t help keep anyone’s composure.
As for the rest of the season who knows, hopefully this Swain squad can roll into conference with this momentum and not let this be the highlight of the season. For Heritage I know if they regroup and learn how to keep their composure they will be just fine with their talent. Boyce Dietz field strikes again lol.
Kind of a trap game witn the way the schedule was setup and Swain is usually tough to beat at home. I definitely thought Heritage would win by 14-21 though after seeing how they haven't been stopped by anybody (until tonight).
Gotta remember Heritage still has a new Head Coach and new QB. There was bound to be some growing pains at some point. Might be a blessing in disguise, I could see this making Heritage better in the long run but it will hurt their RPI and chances of a top seed in the playoffs.
Heck with what we graduated and with the head coach change I've been as surprised at the first three games as I am of tonight's
This is a real shocker especially considering the scores of both Heritage and Swain's game against Pisgah. A good lesson for not comparing scores when determining who is gonna win.

Despite the turnovers Murphy was rolling last night until #5 got hurt, 'Dogs were driving deep in Reynolds territory to go up 21-6 and then boom fumble and Reynolds gets a 90 yard scoop and score to make it 14-12 right before halftime to completely flip the script. After the injury to #5 it's like Murphy were completely deflated and shellshocked, just a total collapse in the 2nd half.
The Murphy team that was out there in the 1st half can beat anyone in 2A not named Tarboro if they hold onto the ball, the Murphy team that showed up 2nd half is vulnerable and capable of losing to a lot of teams. Hopefully they can get their minds right during the bye week and move forward.

Looked to me like the play in question (90 yard scoop and score) was over before the fumble and the whistle should have been blown with Murphy owning a first down at the Reynolds 10 yard line. That play completely screwed Murphy and should never have happened. The game turned right there. Murphy was absolutely crushing Reynolds up until then. The Dogs might have been able to absorb the injury to 5 and still win if that play didn’t happen. The officials were pretty slow on the whistle on several plays last night. I think the rockets got a little home cooking but I guess that’s to be expected considering they were getting handled by a 2a mountain team.
Going forward, hopefully Cam will be fine, but if he is out for awhile, they just need to slide 8 to HB and put 21 at wing and they should be more than fine. I’m actually surprised 21 hasn’t played any offense yet tbh. I think Murphy can beat ANYONE in 2a if they are healthy and playing well.
