The two things that jump out.The 3rd quarter is killing us. Where is that 4th quarter offense the rest of the game?

1 - Is it garbage time and the defenses are playing not to lose?

2 - Is it because Rogers is pushing the ball down the field more and playing to win vs playing not to lose?

3 - Are the opponents defenses tired from the ball control offense from the first 3 quarters?

I would guess it's some combination of all 3. But the only part Leach, Rogers, and the staff can control is #2. Let's do more of that in Q's 1-3.

And the defense needs to buckle down after halftime. The games are being lost in the 3rd quarter. This team is a cooch hair from being 1-3 or 4-0 right now. The first 20 minutes after halftime have been a **** show all season.

I think generally the 3rd quarter is the lowest scoring. So that defensive stat is fairly concerning. We’re one of the worst in the nation 3rd quarter. But guess that could be affected by us always receiving the opening kickoff - then always kicking to start 3rd quarter.

Same goes for offense, but we all know it doesn’t do much in 3rd.

I have a hard time understanding how people can say “we suck against rush 3 drop 8” and then turn around and say “we get a lot of our production because defenses start playing prevent.”

Maybe someone who knows defensive schemes can help me understand, but is rush 3 drop 8 not essentially the same thing as prevent? Being in the stadium yesterday, it looked like LSU was playing the same way the whole game. Until we started running the ball a little more late, which forced them into more four man fronts.

We moved the ball all game for the most part. We just didn’t finish our drives until we got down in the 2nd half… Which makes it very frustrating.

It's virtually impossible to pass the ball against an 8 man drop in the red zone. The safeties are coming forward. Since there is no deep threat. It will work more in college because there will be coverage busts. In the NFL where everyone knows their role, it would be impossible to score in the redzone. That's where running threats come into play.

The difference in the prevent and drop 8 would be depth of DB's. In a drop 8 you might have 1 or 2 safeties 20-25 yards back. In prevent you are dropping both corners and safeties that deep.

I pointed this out last week. Our halftime talk and adjustments suck. We come out flat every third quarter. That's very troubling when your team if behind comes out flat in the third

After the first fumble I did not ever feel we would take control and win the game. These guys have zero swagger right now. They are still looking for the confidence they need to take the next step as a team.

I’d have to go back and watch, but I don’t remember LSU’s CBs playing any deeper in the fourth quarter than they did at any other point in the game.

If anything LSU got a little more aggressive at times in the fourth quarter. I know they were only playing with one safety deep on the 30 yard TD pass to Polk. I also remember a screen pass to Polk where the CB was right in Polk’s face at the LOS.

There is a big advantage to being at the game and seeing the field vs watching on TV. It certainly appears so far through 2020-2021 that disciplined secondaries are going to be the Achilles heal for this offense.

Elko, Odom, Saban, Stoops, and even Durkin are some seriously good defensive coaches still on the schedule. Will be interesting to see if Leach/Rogers can force some mistakes.

The most disappointing thing, is we dominated the stats on both losses, in every category... except turnovers.
We are about 7 points from being 4-0 or 1-3.
But we are shooting ourselves in the foot way way too much.
