How much time would he have left? I assume you would only get one year out of him and he has very little actual game experience.

If he can help us win football games I’m all for forgiving his initial decision.

Fully agree. Although I'm not totally sold that he can help us win games. If the coaches believe he can though I have no problem with welcoming back. Such a waste of him over at Bama. Got sold a bill of goods.

I guess having his position listed as "top reserve at tackle" finally convinced him that maybe he should go some place where he could play. He was in for 58 snaps this year in 8 games. That's less than 8 plays a game.

He was raw coming out of HS. Bama has too many elite guys coming in much more ready to play to spend a lot of time developing a guy based on potential. Was pretty obvious from the start that he would likely get recruited over.

I'd be more likely to base whether he's a take or not on how well he can play. We have limited spots and don't need to add a guy just because he's from West Point.

We need to grab Nigel Knott too. He was just medically cleared to play again. Not sure if staying at Bama.

We should take him. He could be Exhibit A of why you shouldn't go to Bama if you're a MS prospect.

Come back, get a starting role and become All SEC or get a shot in the NFL rather than riding the pine at Bama and your football career goes into the toilet.

This was a classic example of Saban keeping someone from State who could hurt him on the field, but not good enough to help Saban while at Bama. Saban has been masterful at this.

R. Davis is the only one that comes to mind that actually got a lot of really good PT since the Norwood WR.

Hard pass. We have 5 seniors on the OL, so no, we don't need him there, at least for 2020. If he had more eligibility, I'd say sure.

We are going to have a youth movement on the OL next year, so I'd rather the young guys get those snaps in a backup role.

Yea, this is quite different than taking Smith from LSU on the OL. Unless a coach feels strongly that Lashley could start or be a major contributor on the OL in 2020, you would be better off taking another younger guy that can be developed for the future.

Sign him up if he can help and we have room. We’re two coaches past the staff who 17ed up his recruitment. That’s water under the bridge.

Paul Jones said Leach keeps 20-25 OL on the roster, that was a huge emphasis for his teams and that we are low on numbers.

If he got on the field for 58 snaps at Bama, sign him yesterday.

Yep. Isn't Lash a OT?

Cross and Dolla Bill should be the bookends at OT, as long as everybody does their own schoolwork**

I'm sure that counts all the expected players coming in for the Fall as well, but yes, there are going to be several more current players shown the door.

17 that way of thinking. Give him a look. It had nothing to do with *** kissing. It had everything to do with we didn’t ever go to his 17ing campus and talk to him. Ever. We took him for granted and it bit us in the butt

Paul Jones also said with the change in culture and philosophy to expect a good bit of attrition.

If you sign 5 linemen a year to scholarships would you not have 20 -25 on scholarships after 5 years depending on RS ? We sign 25 a year, do we not ? Or at least we can

Come on, bro. Saban is using his limited number of scholarships just to 17 with a team that rarely plays him close? Please think about what you typed and reconsider. 0% chance State had anything to do with why they took Lashley.

he won’t be able to have 20-25 OL
on a SEC roster.

One of my few concerns about Leach. He only carried about 40 scholarship defensive players at WSU, if that. Not sure that is going to work here. Tough to manage depth in this league when you allocate damn near half you scholarships to OL and WR.

We will see how it works out or if he adjusts that strategy.

I agree that sticking it to State is not why Alabama took Lashley. But they knew by his Sophomore year, that he was not an Alabama starter and likely would not be one. Alabama is known for processing players to make room for the next 5* plug and play. Was Lashley blinded by the NC rings glitter that he was willing to ride the pine for 3 years, getting in during mop up duty which one would think would be way more than 58 plays in a year? Or should their staff have done FOR him what they did TO so many others who didn’t match the required Bama pedigree?

So if the kid can help State with oline depth and can play 20 plays a game, why not take the guy.

Yes - How old was he when he made his decision? 18?

Give him a chance to be wrong.

Especially if he can help us.

40 defensive players? So, basically half the non-special teams roster, to account for half the non-special teams positions. This is a problem because?

If you think Nick Saban is not so hyper-competitive that he would offer a scholly to give to someone talented - but not Bama talented - to keep him from a team he plays annually, you haven't been paying attention
