All that is going on is that the other AD's are giving State enough rope to hang themselves. When the fans fail to stop ringing the cowbells during the game, the AD's will come back next year and say that State was given their chance, and the school failed to abide by the rule.

I like the tradition, but I do think that it gives State an unfair advantage.

So just ringing in between plays and during halftime should be fine right?

Halftime, really? Who cares about anything during halftime. I can't imagine wanting to ring a bell during halftime. Or cheer, or really anything except mix a drink and take a leak.

Plus, I have actually been on the field during a game when the cowbells are out in full force. I can tell you that I have never had a problem communicating with anyone.

I don't have a problem with the compromise at all. To me, the rule was pretty clearly aimed at MSU out of sour grapes to start with. If Ole Miss had a bunch of thunder stix or whatever, I would not have a problem with that to be honest with you.

Shug Jordan was a ***** to start this.

and then continue to ring them like always once inside. Stricklin knows he's not getting 55,000 faithful to go back on everything they know about football at DWS and NOT ring their bells when the opponents are on the field. So now we can get them in legally for a year, ring them at all times (unless the O is on the field) and then get them "banned" again and still continue to bring them.

If refs called a 15 yd penalty every time cowbells were being rung, I would think that would put a stop to it. Monetary penalties aren't going to get fans to stop because they aren't the ones paying the fines.

If it's late in the game and Ole Miss has a 3rd and 7 and State gets called for a 15 yd. noise penalty, that might prevent it from occurring again.
but doesn't this all fall back on the fact that the team cannot be penalized on the field since it's not an NCAA rule but a conference rule instead? That basically means their only recourse is to fine the university. I honestly think it might be in our best interest to get hit w/ a couple fines to drum up some press over how the 'big bad SEC' is picking on the 'little guys.'

^^^^^^^^WIN^^^^^^^^

thats exactly why the "warning" was givin and no actual punishment, which means after this year we'll keep paying the fine, and while were showing signs of getting better and if we make it back to good, every other team can keep on bitching.

racist, backwards state that Espn loves to hate so why not do a little more to add on to their stories?

And i believe that the SEC is putting in this rule, not the...nation...

There are rules all across the Nation (maybe not NCAA) but every conference about artificial noisemakers.
